I did 15 mins of jump rope, 15 mins static bike, and 15 mins treadmill. The jump rope just kills my arches when I’m up on my toes. 200 crunches after that until I cramped up.
Well, I’m 33 days into the 84. I think I’ve got a great jump for the first four weeks. If I continue, stay energized and focused, I will be down to 10% at about 245 lbs.
Time for lunch. Who’s got the chicken?

The fitness challenge is starting again. And I’m starting off worse than last year. But that my be a good strategy for the challenge. The more bf I can shed the higher my score. I just need to tweak my eating plan so that I can get below 10%. I got down to 14% from 24% last year. I thought that was pretty good but it’ll have to be more this year.
Any suggestions or proven methods on getting below 10%?
I’ll be eating lean chicken and fish with broccoli and other raw veggies. We have a juicer now, so maybe I can find a great fat burner juice that I can make.

Well, we weighed out for the 911Fitness Challenge on Friday. I was greatly surprised with our results. I ended up at 14.4%BF losing 24lbs of fat and gained 11.8% 21 lbs. of muscle. Our team total was a change of over 42%. All of this in 12 weeks. I’m not sure how much harder I could have worked, but I think lack of sleep or minimal sleep lessened my results by a couple of percentage points.
We should know the results of the challenge at the end of the month.

Well, I’ve got less than 4 weeks left until we weigh out for our challenge. Having this in mind, I bought a weighted jump rope with a RopeSport DVD tonight. I thought it would be a great way to get off of the treadmill and burn a bunch of fat calories. I tried it out tonight and I think I whacked myself about 20 times in the head. My ear just stopped bleeding. This is going to take some practice. I haven’t jumped rope since at least high school wrestling practice.
I have to go in and do the annual physical exam for work at Iowa State University in Ames next Monday. I can’t wait to see what my cholesterol has done in the last year. I hope my dieting and exercise regimen over the last 9 weeks has paid off. I think my total was just short of 200 last year.
Wish me luck with my ears and cholesterol.

I’ve found a Hapkido class in town here. I’m looking forward to starting on Wed. I think Hapkido will go well with my previous training in wrestling and law enforcement. I should improve my flexibility and conditioning with the class. Anyone have any experience with Hapkido or other martial arts? How well does it work with weight training?

Wow!!! Couture absolutely dominated Sylvia. That was the most controlled ass whipping that I’ve seen in a while.
Well, I got more sleep yesterday morning. That definitely helped the cardio. I need a new pair of shoes though. 230 lbs. tends to wear out running shoes too quickly.
I’ve been looking for a mixed martial arts school in the Cedar Rapids area. Anyone know of a good one?

Ugghh. Today was not a great day for upper body. I don’t think that the 5 hours of sleep cut it this morning. Of course the crappy weather and being out in the cold all night doesn’t help either. To start out the workout, I had to adjust the reps(more) and weight(less) to get a decent chest workout. I guess I shouldn’t worry about it because Monday was a great chest day. I just felt like I was dragging during the whole workout today. But, I did every exercise and I feel good about getting it in without having to split it. I can’t wait for Sunday(rest day).
I’m over half done with this fitness challenge and I really need to buckle down on the diet(less fat and carb intake). It’s time to push for 12%BF. By my calculations I should be at about 18 now. More chicken I guess.

Upper body felt great today. I need to really control the diet if I’m going to get down to 10% though.

I’m feeling good about my progress in this challenge. I’ve started doing cardio up to 5 times a week along with the lifting. It’s time to step it up.
I don’t do very well when my schedule gets changed. I had an overtime shift on Monday and my appetite suffered. My splurge day carried over from Sunday. Not good!!!
Weigh-out is coming too soon.
