8 weeks to go…

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

Yesterday was the official 8 week mark.  I am really excited.  The work-outs are getting tougher, but I’m hanging in there.  As expected, my legs are lagging.  I have squated, lunged, plie’d, curled, you name it, yet my quads and hams are taking their sweet slow time.  I can see some overall change in the shape of my legs, but some definition would be nice.  Now my upper body is a different story.  I am quite pleased with my back and arms, and my abs are becoming more visible everyday.  I don’t quite have the V-taper, but it’s coming!!!  Did legs in the gym before work today.  I didn’t have enough time to get my cardio in, but I will try to go running tonight.  I have been getting in 2 sessions/day about 3-4 x/week.  (1 1/2 hours total cardio).  I am hoping to start seeing some big changes in my waiste now.

I met with a local suit maker.  She says that it takes her about a week to do a complete suit including the stoning.   I was having some trouble picking a color, but have settled on a fuschia/raspberry, which should look nice in contrast to my darker complexion.  The suits are so tiny!!!  Thank goodness I don’t have very much up top. Which, by the way, the seamtress said she would be able to help me out with.  Her words to be exact, "girl, we are going to give you some boobs…."  :-)   I’ll be sure to take lots of pictures of that. (LOL!)

Well, time to do some work. The good thing about being at work Labor Day weekend…..no temptation to cheat on diet!

11 Weeks Out and Running….

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

Today I am officially 12 weeks out from my first figures competition.  Today, I woke up at 5am, went to the gym to do some back and abs (obliques), and came to work, where I will remain for the next 28 hours.  Although I am really excited about achieving the goal to compete in a figure’s competition, I am a little weary that I may not be very competitive.  My job is killing me!!!   While I love what I do, the hours are just too consuming.  Unfortunately, I cannot make any changes in my work schedule to accomodate my training, so I just have to be the best that I can be.  I am trying to stay motivated, but it gets hard when I realize that the women against whom I will be competeing, are at the gym burning fat and pumping up their muscles, while I am at work hoping to at least stick to my diet.

Anyway, enough of the complaining.  We all have lemons. Some decide to make lemonade, while others simply pucker up their face and try to bare the bitter taste.  I choose to have some sugar-free lemonade! On October 18, I am going to strut onto that stage in my 2-piece bikini, stripper heels, and tanned body, and I am going to look good!
