My shoulder is still killing me… I am able to move it around a little more, but nothing like I need it to be for working out… So needless to say i do not think I will be making it into the gym again today… But I think I will still be able to do some leg work here around the house, so at least i will be getting something done… I supose I could go to the gym and just work with the plate leg machines so that I do not have to lift anything with my hurt shoulder… We will see…
Blesses Be…

So at the gym yesturday… And on my first set of the day… I did not stretch adequately(I think) before the heavy weight…I get through the first 8 reps and something "pops" in my right shoulder… But I dont let that stop me from pushing out 2 more reps and 3 more sets… I take 5 minutes or so to relax and stretch my shoulder hoping that it will help, I come back, pick up on another machine for a different bodypart and continue on… But I do not stop using the shoulder… I dont want to stop my workout, and I cannot even get more than a couple dips when I try them without falling from the pain in the shoulder…
I get home, take some pain meds get some food, shake and sleep… I wake up in the morning to get my daughter from her crib and as I pick her up i nearly double over from pain in my shoulder…
This sucks… I hate missing workouts, but I know that I will need to probaby take a few days off to heal…

Usualy when I go it is later in the evening… but today I went about 3:30pm and it was packed… I actually had to park around in the back and have a rather heafty walk just to get to the gym… As I was pulling in, and trying to find a parking space I was thinking to myself if it would even be worth it… All that I was thinking about was how long it would take to use any of the machines that I was to use today… And it is Chest/tri day… So I need to use one of the 2 benches that was there and how long would I have to wait I wondered….
I get in.. I walk around, access the MASS AMMOUNT OF PEOPLE there and get a little nervous that I will be here for MANY hours… But I am not in the mood to wait… I am getting hungry and I know that there will be food when I get home… So… I start with the machines that are free, and when I run out of them, I but in between peoples sets (I ask to step in between sets of corse)… Most of us there are working on mass anyway, so a minute or so cooldown between sets is all the time I need to get in, add or subtract weight get my 10-12 reps and get out of the way, then wait till I am ready for my next set…
It was great… I was so scared to ask someone if I could step in between sets… But once I did the first time, it was simple the second and third time… I ajusted to my weight, did my reps, and ajusted back to the weight the person was using before me and get out of the way… I was suprised at how nice everyone was about it too…
Dont fear to step in between sets if you need to…. Just be polite about it…
A great lesson learned…
Blessed be…

Its been over a month and I was out and about, and unable to get home in time to get something to eat…. And for the first time in a long time I got fast food… I had 2 wendys double stacks… And I noticed, that after eating so healthy for so long, my stomach kinda hurt afterward from what I can only assume was the grease… Interesting to me that it had such an effect…

So it happens to me every now and then… I cannot get to the gym for one reason or another, but I am still motivated to do something, and work out…
Yesturday the excuse was that my wife had duty (she is navy) and so it was a "Daddy Daughter Day" with our daughter Evelynn… I spend all day with her with no mommy interuptions and I love the one on one bonding time… And can never get enough of it…
But I do not have a gym that is able to watch her while I work out… I have only ever known of "24hr fitness Sport" and above to have a form of "childcare" while you work out… So what do I do?
Well, Thursdays are my chest/tri’s day, so I had to be creative on how I can get a somewhat decent workout, without weights… I think I did allright… And I just made some stuff up and went with it…
Pushups…. Covered my bench work.
I have stairs, so I put my feet way ip on the stairs, as if I was on a incline bench and did push ups.
Handstand Pushups… I did a handstand aginst a wall and did pushups…. I got 2! I felt special…
I also laid down on this small island in my kitchen and was able to do fly’s with my kitchen table chairs…
And also did about 20-30min of stretching, to try and make up for not stretching yesturday… It would be nice to get back to my dancing form and flexability by next summer….

So I take it I need to take a little longer between sets? Or mix them up a bit more?
I was moving from t-bar row, to dumbess row, to curls, and when i got to hammer curls my biseps were at a constant state of tension, which completly sapped my strength it seemed, it did not burn, it was more like a barrier that I had a hard time pushing past.
Whats up with that?

After last night at the Gym, when I figured out all my maxes, and familarized myself more with the weight lifting area. And I learned a lot…
1. Wear gloves… OUCH!!! My hands hurt…
2. Go an hour later… I arrived at a busy gym at 7pm, and at 8pm… Dead…
3. Dont be scared…. Wow… there are some big guys there… Nice guys too once you get past their mustles… This also means, dont be timid about stepping up to a bench or whatever and get it done…
4. Pace myself… I nearly killed myself yesturday… And all I was trying to do was get my max limit on some things… I have given myself till my next build cycle before I need to be hitting my 2 min maximum rest time between sets…
Today was light… I did a 15 min light cardio bike ride to the gym, the workout, then another 15 min light cardio bike ride back home(its nice living so close to a gym.). My work out was a very light intensity work out. Because I worked on my maxes on Monday it through my schedule off, so today and tomorrow I’m going through all three exercises at a very light intensity with only two sets apiece. This will help familiarize my body with the workouts help give me an idea of where to begin and as well familiarize me with the workouts itself.
So today I was able to get to exercise one in the first half of exercise two. Tomorrow night I will finish the second half of exercise two and exercise three. And starting on Thursday I will begin with workout one at full intensity. And of course Friday’s workout to, Saturday workout three. And beginning the six days a week full intensity is coming Monday.
blessed be

So here we are… 205 lbs, completly out of shape… I feel weak, I get exausted easly, and this is not where I wanted to be at 26…
Just a few years ago I was a competitive fenser with the Foli, I was a competitive Kickboxer who trained 3-5 times a week, I was never in better shape… I joined the navy and brezed through Bootcamp, then again through Hospital Corps School where I am a Medic… After getting married, I just stoped working out… We had a child, and again… Nothing… People always said that its a workout chasing around a kid, its mental, but not so much physical…
In the navy we have a bi-anual PRT (physical readiness test) where you have to do as many Push Ups in 2 minutes, then Sit Ups in 2 minutes, then a mile and a half run as fast as you can… And if you do not perform well enough… You are on a sort of "watchlist" or "probation" where you have a chance of being kicked from the military for not being fit enough…
So as I BARELY, and I do mean BARELY passed my PRT, and I decided it was time for a change… A new beginning so to speak… So I am going to begin working not only on my physical strength, but as well on my endurance, I passed my PRT, and I know that with just a little more help I will not have to worry about it at all the next run around in the spring, so I set myself a goal…
I have always wanted to compete in the KC Scottish Games in Kansas City Missouri, so that is my goal… To train, and compete in these games this coming June 12-14 ‘09… I am not a big guy, and I know that geneticly I will never be as big as I would like to be… But it is time for a change none the less…
This is my new beginning…
So… I am going to do a 2-3 week on off process of BodyBuilding to cardio training…
To begin with, I am going to use the "6 day Chest/Tri, Back/Bi, Legs/Shoulders Routine" that I found here made by Codi Irons. (clicking the link opens up page in a new window).
And then I am going to vary my cardio workout between eleptical, swimming, bikeing and running…
Any comments are greatly appreciated…
Blessed Be.
