A couple of unrelated gym thoughts…

*Lunges- Probably the best thing I am doing for my legs. However, sometimes they hurt my knees. Not all the time, just sometimes. Feels like my knee bones are scraping together. Never had knee problems before. Granted, on working days I wear 3 inch heels for 14 hours on an extremely unstable surface, and in the past I’ve assumed that was the reason. But* I’ve been off work for a couple of weeks. So that’s not it. Any ideas?

*I love the Roman Chair.

*I love being at my own gym. It’s great. No modifications. No rusty hotel equipment. Enough room to move, squishy mats to protect my spine when I do floor exercises.

Perhaps you should change shoes if you’re on your feet that much. Crikey! I’d move a little towards more comfort & a little less on looks with that much standing.

I hate the Roman Chair……LOL. But I do it anyway. :D

I love being at my own gym too. Don’t miss regular travelling.

My basic comments would be are you doing walking lunges?? Or straight down and back up?? Or you going past horizontal on your knees??
Are you doing other leg exercises/back exercises?? Could be the amount of weight and yes the type of shoes you wear?
My knees hurt once and it wasn’t lifting weights at all.It was cardio. The seat position of stationary bike or incline on treadmill.
Do you do other leg exercises? Squat? Leg Press? Leg extensions? My friend had knee specialist told him to NEVER do leg extensions after 2 knee surgeries due to the pressure and angle .

you need to look into foam rolling–I’m writing a blog on it so come check it out, I was having the same problem you are with the knees!

Knee pain with both walking lunges and straight down and back up. I’m doing other leg stuff too, leg press, calf raises, leg extensions. Never notice it with those though, or during the cardio, just the lunges. And it only seems to be when I’m kind of worn out, like after a work day or getting over a cold.

As far as footwear…the agony of a flight attendant’s feet.
Many carriers require us to wear heels when working in First Class or when walking in a terminal, but we are allowed to switch to flats when working in the back. Mine allows us to go as low as a 1/2′ heel, but since *the merger* we are under a lot of pressure to step it up appearance-wise.
