Proud

Friday, June 29th, 2007

It was my friends birthday last night so we all went out to a pool hall/bar/karaoke place. I ordered one jack and diet which was all I intended to have. The guy poured it about 4/5 full of Jack with a splash of coke. Apparently with all this healthy eating and not drinking thats about all I needed to get a decent buzz. We had a Jager Bomb at midnight for my friends birthday. That was all I drank. However the proud part is when we pulled up to McDonalds parking lot at 1:30am buzzing and all I asked for was a water. My stomach was growling at me but I was not about to ruin all the work I’ve done. I’m determined to reach my goals and I am so happy my goals were more important that my instant gratification. Anyway tomorrow is leg day!!! My favorite day!

When is it too much? Any opinions?

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

I started my 12 week challenge as of Monday but I started jogging/running/brisk walking with my dog around June 9th. As of this Monday I have already logged 155 minutes of cardio. I took this morning off because I was afraid of doing too much. Its important that I get my dog lots of exercises cause she is a bit hyper so I was not thinking twice about how much we were out. Anyone have any comments of when its too much cardio?

Day 3 Good Stuff

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Last night was my first go at the weights and I loved it. I don’t know why I ever quit. We did Chest, Bi’s and Tri’s. Feeling a good amount of sore and I can’t wait till my muscles develop enough to hold good form and push some real weight. Thursday will be either Legs or Back & Shoulders. My friend and I are not sure where to throw abs in yet I think we are going to do abs on our cardio days since we don’t do those together and we don’t have a lot of time on weight days. We will see. It feels great to be back.

Rainy Days and Reality Checks

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

So today is Day 2 of my challenge! Last night I picked up my camera and took my before pictures and let me tell you how shocked I was at just how much I have let myself go. I looked like an unhappy unfit person. I dreaded taking those pics and now I know why I was dreading it. In 12 weeks that will be a different story but it did get me quite upset. I thought I looked decent until I saw them. I don’t think I can post them until I have made some progress. It was raining out yesterday evening and I was bummed because I wanted to go jogging but instead I did 40 minutes of Billy Blanks Tae Bo. His workout kicks my ass. I like it. Anyway I did 20 minutes of a jog/walk combination this morning it felt great and this afternoon is my first session back at weight lifting. =) I know this blog is boring but its keeping me on track.

I forgot to mention

Monday, June 25th, 2007

My new found love for doing laundry. Now I don’t actually like the laundry part but I do like at the end of the week seeing the bin of stinky workout and running clothes from my workouts. I guess I could plan out my workout clothes for the week and if I didnt use them all well then I didn’t work out according to my plan. However I am sticking to my schedule pretty well so I will use a tactic like that when I have less motivation. So far so good for now though. =)

Glorious Free Day

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Actually it was hard to sit down and rest on Free Day Sunday but I did it because I know its important. I did however take a casual stroll with my dog. I made a new recipe and it was delicious I am learning to love to cook healthy things. I had grilled havana garlic shrimp over whole wheat cous cous and wilted spinach. It was yum. Next time I need to add more spinach. So I weighed in on Sunday and for some reason I was certain my weight didnt budge by it sure did budge so I was very excited. Things are going well and i feel great and clear headed, things are falling into place.

Oh did I mention today is the first day of my 12 week challenge? WOOHOO. I started it off with 20 min of Hi-Lo Aerobics this morning. =)

Sunday Sunday Sunday

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

Well I lost an initial 5 lbs before I really got serious about my eating and working out. It took about a week and a half and I imagine it was just water weight. I began weighing myself everyday but got too frustrated because I am a little impatient so I have switched to weighing in once a week. So Sunday is the day. I am a little anxious about it but the worst thing that can happen is I didn’t lose weight and I just have to keep trying. That isn’t so bad is it? My friend offered his garage gym use to me and I think I will take him up on that. I am really excited to start lifting again. I miss it. This site is a lot more encouraging than I ever though it could be. My friend and I are thinking about doing a 12 week body makeover, well we aren’t thinking we are doing it starting Monday although we are working out already we just have to coordinate our schedules. We figured 12 weeks is not that big of a sacrifice to once and for all be happy with ourselves. Hell I have been unhappy in my own skin off and on for 10 years. That is exhausting. More exhausting than 12 weeks of hard work. I tried to do a short session of yoga this morning but my dog Jersey was not having it. She was making it difficult but it was terribly funny. In the future I will go jog with her before I do any mat work such as abs pilates or yoga. I am also trying to throw some fun things in my schedule too so my other friend and I are taking up a belly dancing class for a month. I hear it is actually a great workout and gets your comfortable with your stomach! Anyway I am rambling but I like to write this stuff out. =)

Running and Eating and running and eating.

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

So that is what I do a lot of now. I’ve started a quick one mile jog/walk/run depending on how I feel in the morning to boost my metabolism early in the day. Tried eating eggs to get more protein early in the day. I just don’t like eggs enough for the protein they provide. I will stick with cottage cheese. I am also thinking about a protein shake now even though I generally hate processed foods and powders.

Rock climbing was good last night. I don’t last too long because my hands and forearms wear out but it will get better each week. Did some pushups when I got home those were pathetic. The beginning of getting into shape is very humbling I seem to forget that every time. Lets make this the last time I have to start over. Looking foward to my jog later on.

Ugh Eating

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

So it turns out that although I eat pretty damn well, I consume too many carbs and not nearly enough protein. I just like my veggies and fruits and crunchy snacks. So I guess alongside my short term goal of losing enough lbs to get to 145 I need to learn to incorporate more protein and phase out some carbs.
