Finding What Works

Funny sometimes how we get used to something and think maybe it’s not such a big deal after all.  I stopped using Animal Pak a few years ago when I stopped working out and when I started back I thought I’d save some money by staying with a good multi-vitamin.  I had a really good multi, after all one pill is easier than 11, but I was having a lot of soreness after each workout. 

Now, after just a few days with Animal Pak, I’ve noticed considerably less post-workout soreness, and greater strength!  Needless to say, I’ve learned my lesson - this stuff works!

Recovered but still sore

Taking last week off really helped my body repair and recover.  My workouts have been pretty intense and my muscles have been sore on an almost continual basis since I started this program 8 weeks ago.  My miniscule budget prevents me from getting all the supplements I want (and need), but I just switched from my multivatimin to Animal Pak so I’m feeling optimistic that some of the soreness will improve between workouts.  Good workout today!

Incline Flyes   3 sets 10-12  @ 20lbs

Incline Dumbell Press  3 sets 6-8 @ 35,40,40

Dumbell Pullovers 3 sets 10-12  @ 35

Upright Rows  3 x 10-12 @ 65

Alternating Dumbell Press 3 x 12 x 15 @ 20

Bent Dumbell Raises  3 x 8-10 @ 15

Squats      3 x 6-8  @  135

Crunches  3 x 30

Cardio  20min.  (lazy in cardio today, ran out of steam)  :-[

Working My Way Back

I missed a day last week…missed today’s workout.  I’ve been really sore due to running out of supplements for the past couple of weeks and my job/financial situation has had me very depressed for the past week (another PCOS symptom-depression).  It sucks because I’ve been hearing complaints about a new employee that my partner and coworker are training, who has a Master’s degree in financial analysis, but doesn’t have the common sense it takes to follow direction.  I may not have a degree above Associates yet, but my 133 IQ makes me a very good learner IF someone would just give me a chance to get my foot in the door! (Been unemployed a long, long time.)

Working out right now, and focusing on getting my body back are the only things really giving me a reason to keep doing what I do.  Like people say, "The iron doesn’t lie, it’s always there for me…no matter what."

Aiy, Aiy, Ouch!

What a week.  Working out has been really helping me keep my head above water lately.  I’m having a hard time staying motivated to stick to my diet.  I just don’t have much interest in eating lately.  Yesterday I got in another good back workout, but I’m out of supplements and today I’m sore.  I don’t care.  I’m not stopping.  On the career level, life kinda - no really sucks right now, but I don’t care.  I’m not stopping!  Things can’t get much more stressful, but I’m not stopping!

I’m going to go cook some brown rice and thaw some chicken.

Tomorrow:  Shoulders
