Yesterday was very, very good. It was soooo good in fact, that it was baad. Christmas day started off as planned, pajamas, coffee, pancakes & eggs, movies, and phone calls to family and friends - that was supposed to be it. Three family dinner visits, lots of love & laughter and a day later, we now have a week’s worth of food and desserts that will keep us both chained to the cardio machines…or else! Now these desserts, they aren’t your run of the mill frozen or catered fare. We’re talking about, from scratch: three different pound cake: One, a lemon glazed poundcake that resurrected my dead grandmather and brought tears to my eyes, peach cobbler, my own paranormal sweet potato pie, and red velvet cake! …the kind of food that will reduce any civilized linguist to prehistoric grunts and groans!
I will be a regular in the gym from now until my last days which isn’t so bad, but I just want to make sure I get some results out of it. Motorcyclists say, "Live to Ride"; Bicyclists say, "Ride to Eat"; and I can now apply that one to myself as well, only instead of riding, I’ll be on the cardio machines until….
So, instead of beating myself up for enjoying some Divinely inspired food, I will simply take responsibility for my actions and pay my dues.

I think everyone at my gym is starting to get a little top-heavy, myself included. We haven’t had a leg extension machine for the longest, since August at least; and, now with the remodeling, the leg press and hack squat machines are gone, too! It should be over soon, hopefully by the new year. Once everything’s in place, it’s gonna be ON!
Regardless, I got in a good chest, triceps, and abs workout today. I took Monday & Tuesday off, so today I was really strong. Wuu-saaaaaah!
Dumbell bench press 3×8 @ 30,40,45
Dumbell Incline press 3×8 30,40,40
Incline flyes 3×15 25
Incline dumbell side raises 3×12 15
cable bent side raises 3×12 25
press downs 3×15 70,90,100
bench dips 3×15
overhead cable extensions 3×15 30

Tomorrow: Back, bi’s, shoulders

Ahhhhh….. I finally got a massage today. I’ve been trying to hook up with a massage therapist friend for the longest, and we finally matched our schedules. My whole body is breathing a big sigh of relief! Next week in the gym will be FUN!!!

Today was chest and shoulders. I got up late from staying up too late last night. I woke up in such a funk that I didn’t want to go to the gym, but I did, hoping it would make me feel better. No such luck. I went through my workout (got a pretty good pump), in a grumpy mood, and skipped cardio. I’m just not feeling it today. Much of my problem is depression. It’s bad enough to have to be on medication and I think it may need to be adjusted again (not a precise science). [*sigh]

Funny sometimes how we get used to something and think maybe it’s not such a big deal after all. I stopped using Animal Pak a few years ago when I stopped working out and when I started back I thought I’d save some money by staying with a good multi-vitamin. I had a really good multi, after all one pill is easier than 11, but I was having a lot of soreness after each workout.
Now, after just a few days with Animal Pak, I’ve noticed considerably less post-workout soreness, and greater strength! Needless to say, I’ve learned my lesson - this stuff works!
