Pep talk to thy inner-self.

I was pretty happy with my scale weight last week, but it hasnt moved an inch this week. I’m having major self-doubt. But I have to keep reminding myself that my goal is not weight-loss but body recompostition. I would be happy at 130 with a lower body fat percentage..I’m not asking for no 9% bf ( I happen to cherish my menses, even though they are a pain) since I do not plan to compete. I think I need to switch my goal from ‘body recompostion’ to ‘body recompostion and mind re-conditoning’. Society constantly dictates ‘lose weight’…but looking on BB.com and seeing amazing bodys at my same height but at higher weight, I realized that it’s not about the scale…and besides, there was a point were I was only 5lbs less than this and I looked terrible…poster child for ’skinny fat’.

So, throw the scale back into the linen closet and trust your trainer…he know what he’s doing. The proof is in the mirror and the size 4 jeans.

End of rant….well, not really a rant. Pep talk to thy self.

Gym tourists

Yes, you know who I’m talking about. The new year will be here soon and the gyms will be flooded with the smell of new spandex, Lycra and sneakers. The ones who aimlessly walk around the gym trying out every piece of equipment, hoping by some act of God will get them to their goals. One set here, one set there… spy someone do something cool and interesting, try it out for one set of 15. Do some crunches, hop on the HS chest press…pec deck looks cool, try that for 10(interrupt someone’s super-set). Wipe down every machine, lest someone else should use it :-P.  And so the dance goes on and on until eventually, they resign themselves to the cardio machines.

Not that I have anything against them…I’m all for "fit America" . It takes me back to my newbie days when I’d do the same thing and leave the gym feeling very pleased with myself and seeing little to no results month after month. The best lesson I ever learned is ‘have a plan  before you set foot in that gym, before to touch that iron’. That has made a big difference in my workouts, to a point where if I don’t know, I’m not ashamed to ask for help.

Superpump or Superdump..?!!

I bought Gaspari’s Superpump a few days ago and I have been using it for what..3days now. I went online yesterday to do some research and voila..the biggest complaint people seemed to have was it gave them an upset stomach, or more specifically, the shits n squirts.. I personally haven’t experienced this maybe because I have been following the instructions on the label and I am only using one scoop. I was surprised to read that some people are up to 3 scoops at a time, yikes!! Now I’m a little cautious. I’d hate to stop in the middle of a set of squats due to the squirts. That’s embarrassing..! I had a major headache yesterday after my workout, that worries me. But I will keep using it , ONLY on training days. The label says to take a scoop on non-training days but I think that is a sales gimmick…..use more = buy more….kaCHING, Gaspari. 

In other news, my arms hurt, really hurt. Actually, I am a poster-child for DOMS. I still have Chest and triceps to do today. If I will make it to the gym today, that’s a whole other story. I will not let myself down…I’m almost done.

So yesterday I finally hit 225 on my DL!!!!May not be impressive to some of you, but it means a whole lot to me….it means ‘I can do it’. I can’t wait to work on my bench. I was also able to average 8 pull-up on average for 4 sets. I can’t complain, and needless to say, my back and biceps are fried!!

I wonder…

I wonder why people actually believe those infomercials that promise results in less than 20minutes…I don’t get it. So why are people in the gym busting their a$$es for twice that amount of time. " In just 10 minutes or less…." Give me a break…that Bender Ball….what is that? Are you serious? And then there are the crunchless abs DVD, fascinating. We’re not exactly reinventing the wheel, here. Ok, I’ll admit, they got me a couple of times..but that was way back in the day, got suckere into buying a thing or two, nothing serious like the Gazelle thingy. Just out of curiosity I’ll be doing a survey  on Thursday to see who has bought stuff thanks to an infomercial and what, why….

Speaking of family, I’m dreading the lifestyle nit-picking…*sigh*. They need to try it sometime…

AD is going great…I’ll be doing a three week induction just to make sure  I am fat adapted before I carb-up.

I also picked up some Superpump 250. I want to see what it can do for me. Anyone used it? I’d appreciate the reviews….

Highs and lows…

Today is my second day of the induction phase of the AD…no cravings yet. Today has been an emotional roller-coaster. First thing this morning, I get what I thought was good news, then I get to work and my boss drives into my car..That really sucked because he offered to pay for the repairs and I’f feel really bad for letting him do that. I know he was looking for a reaction from me when he told me, but I was numb. My initial reaction (in my head) was ‘My car!!!! *SOB*’ ! But I managed to play it off as ‘no big deal’, even though I was mourning inside. Why is it that sh*t happens just when you’re about to finish paying for it?!

At midday, I get news that I’m going to be an aunt,again…yay!

Come evening, I find out that the so-called good news I received was a bluff; it’s just the beginning of a long arduous process….which means I was riding on a false high all day..

Now, I’m watching Shrek because I’m spent. I don’t have the energy to try and find something on TV I’d like to watch.

If tomorrow is anything like today, I might need some carbs….. and a beer.

Assumptions..

It’s a bit annoying when people assume, ok alot annoying. I think the  saying ‘assumption is the mother of all f*ck ups’ has has some truth to it.

Don’t assume because I am a woman, I can only lift 10lbs…give me options.

Don’t assume I want to talk to you in the middle of my workout…maybe afterwards.

Don’t assume since we are two women on a team this is going to turn into a giggle session….I’m trying to et my money’s worth.

Don’t assume I’m done with my super-set especially if you’ve been watching me….not everyone does the standard 3×8.

Don’t assume because my ass is on display due to no fault of mine, you can stare at it….look but don’t stare.

Don’t assume that I need your unsolicited advice….I’ll ask if I need your help.

Don’t assume that because I’m not working with a personal trainer, I don’t know what I’m doing….I have a guardian angel.

Don’t steal my machine in the middle of my super-set and try to smile at me…..I was on a roll and you slowed it.

*Sigh*. I feel so much better.

Off to get ready for my party. 

Birthday thoughts…..

So it’s that time again….. Time to renew that tag, go to the DMV this year, get my picture taken…..am I really older and wiser? Well, lets see…. In some ways, yes and in others no. As far as my training and nutrition goes, my knowledge has increased tenfold. I know they didn’t teach us half of this stuff in my 4yrs studying nutrition. Do I feel older? Not a day over 21!!!!! *Ahem*.

Since this is about training, I hope to hit 200lbs on my deadlift by Monday, that would be a great short term goal. Then hit 300 by next year…but do I really want to do that? The thought of that makes by posterior chain twitch!! Lol….

Ugh, flu season is upon us… my latest monkey wrench. I’m really trying to fend it off the best I can. I managed to slug my way through my kickboxing workout and now I’m starting to think that may not have been a good idea. I’m drippier than ever. I’ll take a stomach flu, any day…heck i’ll take Montezuma’s revenge at this rate.

Other than that and the sore throat from hell, I had a really good day and my best friend is visiting which means I get adjusted. That’s a treat.

I like Sundays because of football. Since the Cowboys lost, my boyfriend will be pissy for the rest of the week….ggggrreatt! I guess that means I should get a free pass for my PMS…it’s only fair… I don’t take it out on other people when my team doesn’t win, which has been very often especially last season…I’m not complaining.What’s a team without their QB…Romo + Cowboys, Brady + Pats……….

They always have next weekend to redeem themselves.
