No cardio, and Ice Cream sandwiches…

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

It’s amazing when you do no cardio for a week, and eat one Ice Cream Sandwich every day after dinner, how your abs seem to disappear!

Okay, I fell off the horse this week.  Sunday and Monday, I worked out… and missed yesterday and today.

Now I’m kicking myself.  Time to get back to it!

Protein intake

Friday, March 20th, 2009

1.5g x 173Lbs = 260g of Protein per day.  I have to some how make it a habit to eat enough protein before lunch like I use to.

I wonder what other people do to get over the 200g per day protein goal?

Gone but not forgotten…

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

My Grandma went home to be with the Lord today 2:50pm (CDT).  She lived 81 years… and was still really talkative on Monday.

Keep my family in your thoughts and prayers.

New Progress Pics… not good.

Monday, March 16th, 2009

I took some new progress pics.  I see that my upper body needs to be worked just as heavy as my lower body.

Here are the problems I see:
Small traps, Small shoulders, Small Arms, Small Chest, weak abs.  My back is better than my chest in comparison.

My most recent relaxed photo, and calf photo show that the muscle is just not there…. or there’s an amount of fat that needs to be removed.

With that said, I believe it’s back to basics:
Overhead BB press, BB curl, BB shruggs… its a matter of lifting heavy with perfect form.
And 260g of protein daily! (173Lbs x 1.5g)

Getting the right amount of protein has been the major challenge in my bodybuilding goals.

I hope to stick to that goal this week of 260g per day.

What caused me to visit the Doctor?

Monday, March 9th, 2009

Friday night, I was surfing bodyspace, facebook, and myspace.

Outta no were I felt this ache in my left "boy".  After a few minutes, It didn’t go away!  I woke up the next morning and it was still there. Driving and sitting down was uncomfortable.

My biggest fear was…a hernia.  But I didn’t think it was because 1.) I didn’t workout at all last week… and 2.) since I started cutting in Feb, I’ve dropped my Squat and Deadlift weight / barbell Lbs.

Saturday, I got off work and took a hot bath, and examined the "boy" myself.  Then I took two ex-strgth pain pills.  And went to sleep.

Yesterday was better, the ache was there, but I could sit down. I still wanted to go see a doctor.

Today, I was able to get a doctors app… he felt me up…made me turn and cough (both directions.)  It wasn’t the "boy"… it was the epididymis (the coiled tube that sits on the testicle)… it had become inflammed. — Diagnosis: Epididymitis.  Caused by any number of bacterial infection.  I was so glad that it wasn’t a hernia.  The Doc gave me a Rx of Cipro (500mg) (1 tab twice daily for 10 days.)  He also recommended scrotal support, briefs, or boxer-briefs while on the meds. "It will keep the scrotum from moving around and causing tension on the area," he said.

Good news, This was my first time ever talking to my primary care phys.  As you know, guys don’t ever see the doctor.. and I, like most guys, don’t go unless I really need to.  Lesson learned.

“Are you looking at my Butt?” Leg workout

Friday, February 27th, 2009

I always enjoy working my legs.  The have been the one bodypart that has improved in size.  Quads are great. Calves have come a long… and many ladies at work, on Myspace, and here on Bodyspace have noticed what the workouts have been doing to my rear.  With that in mind, even though I was really tired, I did get to some lunges to make sure my butt was toned up.

Here’s what happened today:
Barbell Squat (2 warmup sets and then 6 working sets)
Leg Press
Seated Calf raises
Lying Leg Curl
Smith Machine split lunges
Leg Press (low weight)

Next week, I’ll put more emphasis on hamstrings.

Supplements vs. Natural (no supps at all)?

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

So I let on that I’ve been using supplements to Nick, my workout partner.

He makes fun, and says… you should go natural… I laughed and thought… "you’re 20yrs old, I’m 33 yrs old" and using Whey Protein 3 times a day and Superpump250 1 to 2 times a week doesn’t make me a juicer."

I told him they were supps and not steroids, he says.. You used a weight gainer… I said yeah, two years ago… I was 143Lbs! now I’m 174 Lbs!  I’m an ectomorph!

As the wiser 33yr old, I changed the subject because I could tell he hasn’t read any material on supps or bodybuilding for the matter.

What do you think?  Supplements vs. Natural (no supps at all)

Back

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Just hit my back….

Deadlifts
Low cable row
Lat Pulldown
Hammer Strength Row
Shruggs

I appreciate all the support I’ve been getting during my cut.  It is certainly a motivator.
