It’s Harder than it Looks

October 10, 2009

I’m sure a lot of you guys who started out like me can validate… it’s much harder to put on the pounds than it looks.

I’ve been at this now since 2004, and have managed to put on some good size… but getting beyond my 12 month long plateau is harder than I thought.  Especially now that I work over 54 hrs a week with only one day off.

Challenging?  YEAH… but what has helped recently is planning out my workout days and sticking to that plan.

My dream is to have overall symmetry and have a look that matches most male fitness models.  But before I can do that… I need to establish my foundation and get back to the fundamentals (COMPOUND EXERCISES)

I’ve got to take it day by day.

Blog #80 - Post Circuit workout

September 14, 2009

As I approach my 34th birthday… (Thursday) I’m beginning to focus on my goals.  And actually putting the necessary steps in place to get there.

As for bodybuilding… my number one goal is to add mass.  I’m still so skinny in my calves and forearms and things need to balance out.

Also the scale is going the wrong direction.  I’m currently at 172lbs.

While the goal is 180lbs… with a great fitness physique, I still need to keep eating and supplementing, along with going back to a split workout routine.

I think hitting arms and shoulders twice a week for 6 weeks and then going back to the mirror is my next option.

At any rate I must get back to eating breakfast and meeting that 200+ gram protein goal daily.

I really need to get motivated and do it and stop letting work get in the way of my goals.

We’ll see how it goes for the next 7 days.

Much Respect.

Getting bigger…

September 4, 2009

I love to eat chicken and turkey.  I haven’t had much trouble with it since I began building muscle back in 2004.  The biggest challenge is consistantly eating every day 261grams of protein.

So, I’m really inspired right now.  Got make a point to keep my diet clean and my workouts intense and to change them up often.

Do it.

How to miss 2wks at they gym.

August 29, 2009

It happens when you mix an injury, work, and an illness in the family.  I look back at my calendar and notice that for TWO WEEKS I haven’t been to the gym.

I’m having withdrawals! I miss Leg Press and Squatting the most.

When it comes to my goal of improving my upperbody, I’m really so eager, but I’ve gotta start doing a better job of getting my workouts in before the week kills me.  Especially at work.

This week I gotta make it count.  And I’ve gotta make it mandatory.

Lift Iron or Bust. or should I say "Lift Iron or Get Skinny"

Do It!

Fell and landed on knees…

August 19, 2009

Big Mistake.  I fell today… couldn’t catch myself and landed on my knees.

There really bruised and swollen.  Looks like I’ll have to take a week off from quads and hams.

Got them on ice right now.

Falling Off the wagon…

August 14, 2009

I worked out ONLY TWO days this week.

Bumb’d out over that.  I put in a lot of hrs at the office shooting and editing and one look in the mirror after my shower shows how weak I look overall.

I really need some motivation to get back to speed.

Split and Upper body START

August 10, 2009

I hit shoulders last night.  It was the 1st in a split routine for the next 4 wks to get back into the groove.

Doing basics was good for me, but in the mirror it wasn’t showing that much in results do to my diet.  Getting 200g of protein a day has been my challenge.

Today is Chest Day.  Looking forward to getting back into it - FOR REAL!

Shoulders:
Dumbbell Press
One Arm Side Lat Raises
Rear Delt (Machine)
Barbell Press (Military Press standing)
BarBell Shruggs 1 set front - 2 sets behind
Ab Crunch Machine

Basics…

July 30, 2009

Since July 8th I’ve been doing the basics.

Squat / Bench Press / Curls / Rows

I must admit,  It’s really hard!  But I love it.  I feel steady gains in LBS or REPS each week. Despite a week of rest I’m still pretty good.  Still progressing.

I’ll update you on progress as I continue for the rest of this month.

Back to Basics…

July 8, 2009

Taking it back to basics everyone.

3 days a week, one exercise per body part with comes to about 9.  3 sets 12 - 15.

I’ll work this for the next 6 - 12 weeks.  Then I’ll advance to the next level

Thanks for all the support.
