Seriously, stay away from grease (Mexican rice), white flour (tortillas de harina), and lard (tamales). Look into brown rice, Sister. Great source of low glycemic energy! Also, if you are not already doing so, embrace the black bean. Beans and rice = complete protein. (I purposely went after stereotypical "Mexican" food as opposed to all the refined sugar and carbonation and salt I've been avoiding.)

As far as training/cardio, do not overlook the benefits of lifting heavy: more muscle = more calories burned while sedentary (cardio only burns during and shortly after the workout); more muscle = less sag. I've still got quite a layer of fat over my abs, but I am looking lots better and it's because of cleaner eating as well as harder (not just more) reps on the old abdominals.
I understand your elbow doesn't allow you to lift as you'd like (and I hope you heal 100% by summer's end), but get after your thighs/chubby cheeks with squats, stiff legged dead lifts, and lunges. Again, I have inches of padding, but the solidity underneath this has greatly increased with my dedication to completing exercises that build the underlying muscle. (I'd be much better off if my herniated spine didn't keep me from going heavy.Squatting 95# hurts, but not as bad as 115!)
My Friend, I am glad to hear you are fighting the good fight! As long as you don't just quit, you are a winner in my book!

For those who understand the nutrition, I want to think they have a masters degree in some sort ofscientology or something. I haven't been able to figure much out myself. I just keep asking, trying, reading, ect. You will find what works for you. It takes time. But I do think you may want to start with some weight training as well. That too will help burn some fat and give you good weight and help get rid of the "jiggle" (although I am still having trouble with mine) Don't give up. It is a work in progress and not an overnight thing. Good luck!

when it comes to eating your carbs you should avoid it right before dinner and workout. Allow your body to burn what little fat you have and before bed your body will store it. Other then that your lower body is coming along nicely. keep it up!

I'm just hoping to hear your injury is healing well! Take it easy if you have to, live for a better tomorrow, all that jazz. "We" need you 100% almost as much as you do!

(Now is the time to take plenty of vitamins &amp; minerals. After getting my hip dislocated by a truck in 1995, I was laid up for a bit and did not supplement. Maybe losing 1.5 inches in height was unavoidable, but both a nutritionist and a dietician have theorized the reason my wrist bones shrunk is that my body needed more nutrients to rebuild and got them by draining "riches" from my marrow!)
