Is there any better feeling than the feeling of accomplishment after you completed a workout you didn’t want to start?
Isn’t it amazing how knowing you inspired one person is worth all the thousands of hours of effort you put into it?
Narcissists admire what they have when they look in the mirror. Bodybuilders are always looking for where they could improve.
Which tastes better to you, the cheeseburger that you was craving for days and finally had, or the victory of knowing you didn’t give in to the temptation?
Water is the one thing we have flowing for free out of our sinks and tubs, but we would rather buy it in a bottle from a gas station.
The greatest answer to a question is when someone asks your kids who they want to be like when they grow up and they answer mom or dad.
Live every moment of your life to ensure that is the answer your children give.
Bodybuilding is the one sport that failure truly means success.
Thank those that have shown you the way by showing the way to others.
Rock on and Rock strong!

Instead of a regular blog about getting pumped and motivated, I am considering writing blogs for each particular aspect of bodybuilding/fitness. One for leg day, one for cardio, etc. If enough folks think this will work, i willl start on this in the next day or so. Comment and let me know. Rock on and Rock strong!

I would love for folks to read my blogs that have never seen it before and give input. Let me know what you think and I can take criticism. If you like what I do, add me. I accept all adds. I try to do a motivational blog and hope I am helping others. Please check it out. Thanks.

I was exploring around on BodySpace today. I wanted to check in on some folks that I haven’t seen and talked to in a while. I also looked at blogs and pics on folks I haven’t been privileged enough to meet yet. I saw a theme that was consistent on most of the pages I saw today.
How people are now getting serious. The games are over. It has been fun but now it is time to go to work. I read how the focus is now there and they are ready to meet their goals. I am happy to see that. Really, I am. Congratulations on getting to that point. I hope to see you meet your goals and tell me when it happens. Now, for those of you that are still “taking it easy”, “resting up”, or “going light for a while” and waiting for the games to end to get serious, I have two words for you.
GAME OVER!!!
Right now, at this very moment, as you are reading this blog, THE GAME JUST ENDED! Get serious, get your head in it, start preparing. Ladies and gentlemen, summer is damn sure on its way, and time is wasting. Start with the diet, start with the extra cardio, the weights, the yoga, all of it. The time is right now.
Feel the energy, feel the intensity, feel your heart beating faster, feel the blood rushing, and feel the pump in your muscles as you get more jacked by the second. It is on, now. You focus more, you walk faster, hell, you run to the weight room. You see the definition coming by the hour. You have goose bumps just thinking about it. That feeling isn’t light, easy, resting, or slow. It is heavy, hardcore, working your ass off, and getting faster by the second. The feeling is electrifying. It is stimulating. It is refreshing. It is bodybuilding.
Do you feel it?
Rock on and Rock strong.

You know, I have been doing this blog for about 60 days now, maybe a little over that. I have posted about all kinds of topics, training, improvement, inspiration, etc. I can go on and on. Every now and then, I get asked if I am a professional, if I am ever going to charge for this, speak at places. It is good to know that I am talented enough at this that people think it is a career. I hope to be good enough that I could, but I am not sure I ever would.
Don’t get me wrong. Money is great, especially in a recession, but the fact is this isn’t for the money. I wake up every day and log on to my BodySpace account and see comments from people all around the world. I sit in my recliner in Lewisburg, WV and somehow I touched someone in New Zealand, Iraq, England, or anywhere in the States. How in the blue hell can I put a dollar amount on that? I can’t. I understand that people do stuff like this to make a living. However, the important question is this. Would you do what you do for free? If you feel that strongly about spreading the message about exercise, motivation, nutrition, etc, would you give your advice for free if someone needed it?
I have done that and I do it now. Yes, I dream of someday doing it for a living. This is about more than money though. This is about changing and improving quality of life. This is about showing people that they can do things that they never imagined they could do. I don’t charge for reading the blog. I don’t charge for rocklockridge.webs.com. I do it because the fact that I have the potential to change someone’s life forever is worth more to me than a dollar amount. Someone saying "Rock, thank you for this. My life and health is better because of you" is priceless. Whether it is a lot or a little bit, it is great. It could be a quote helped someone get a few extra reps. It could be something as drastic as someone wanting to quit drinking or change their entire lifestyle. I want to genuinely help people improve their quality of life. I see the potential in all these people and dammit, I want them to see it. Greatness is in front of their face and they are blind to it. Just being that light that shows it makes my day.
Money is great, hell if you insist, I’ll give you my address and you can send a check. I could use it. But this isn’t about money. This is about life, this is about the greatest sport of them all. This is about you or your friends doing the unthinkable every day and knowing in their minds that they can do better tomorrow.
Isn’t the greatest things in life free?
Rock on and Rock strong!

I took some pics today and I amazed myself. I also amazed my fiancee too. I have come a long way back. I am not back to 100% yet, but I am getting there. Then we took her pics. DAMN! She has lost 3 inches on her neck. She lost 5 on her hips, 4 on her stomach, 2 on each thigh and her calves are actually bigger. She is amazing. She saw the before and afters of herself and almost cried. She is that happy. I haven’t mentioned much about her but her thyroid shut down on her and she went from 160 to 300 in about a month and a half. She got depressed because she got so big so fast and she was training. This was before we started dating. She did manage to get down to 260 by the time we got together. We were able to get her insurance and she went to the doctor, and got her medicine. She has come a long way and knows she will only get better.
If you haven’t taken a pic in a while, I suggest doing it. Now. You will be shocked at the fruits of your labor. Once you see the progress you made, you will have so much motivation, you may not need my blog anymore. For those of you that do photos regularly, keep it up. I look forward to all the new poses and smiles. Rock on and Rock strong.

Visualization can be a powerful thing. I know many of you have heard the expression, if you can see it, you can achieve it. Well, it is true. You must see yourself accomplishing your goal like you are watching it back on video. You have to see it that clearly.
Before you hit the gym, take a few minutes to think about what you are going to do. Picture what you are about to lift. picture your spotter there at the ready. Imagine even what clothes you are wearing and what you are listening to on your mp3 player. You must see it that clearly. Feel that weight in your hand. Feel that sweat on your brow. Hear the spotter yelling at you to lift it.
See yourself celebrating the accomplishment with everyone that watches. See yourself flexing and smiling. Know in your mind that you just accomplished this goal you were working on for months and you are about to go do it again. You must NOT have a single thought about failure. You must NOT have a single doubt in your being that you can do it. You know you can do it. You will do it.
Now, go to the gym and do it just like you visualized it. Go through that workout like you are doing it for a second time. You know you can do it, I know you can do it, and everyone that sees you on a regular basis knows you can do it. Hell with can, you WILL DO IT! Rock on and Rock strong!
