Jungle Gym Review
My Lifeline Jungle Gym arrived last week on Thursday. It's a suspension training device like a TRX, but costs a lot less. Suspension training is similar, in a way, to using a swiss ball, in that you are in an unstable situation, so you are constantly working to stabilize yourself thereby increasing your stability and strength at the same time.
The straps, tubing and clamps are heavy duty. It should take a lot of use. The DVD that comes with it is one of the best DVDs I've received from Lifeline. It's very thorough going over push, pull and core exercises. All are demonstrated outside on an outdoor chinning set up & goal post, but the exercises can also be done inside with a door. The exercise chart that comes with it has a beginner, intermediate and advance exercise routine. It's very well illustrated with photographs, and the text is understandable.
I'll be starting the beginner workout with it tomorrow, but I've already tested it with push ups and body rows. I used a door and found it very easy to get the JG in place, the clamps allowed for quick and sure adjusting, I'm 223 pounds right now & the straps held me easily. I liked the feel of the exercises, and I'm really looking forward to getting body weight exercises back into my workouts.
The JG promises to be a very versatile piece of equipment that can be adjusted to go along with me as I progress. If I was in the military now I would have one of these with me. It's light, easy to pack and carry, but best of all there is a a lot of exercises you can do with it to stay in great shape.
I'll post more as I use it.
