too much protein + Creatine = Liver damage!

OK, I just found out,…after taking too many stimulants and walking into the ER with a heart rate of 208….that my protein and creatine intake is way too high and forcing my kidneys to work harder than they are able too…Blood tests showed that..I had no idea what i was doing to my body…For those of you that may happen to read this..I caution you ..watch to make sure you are not taking too much excess protein in your diet…also creatine needs to be cycled on/ off….My blood work showed excessive levels of creatinen in my system and that w/ protein is killing my kidneys…Lets just hopes it temporary..For now I have to quite COLD Turkey ALL supllements…AND watch my normal protien intake…this is just crazy!!!

Hey, I wanted to say I am sad to here this. I hope it is only temporary. I will pray for you and I hope everything turns out alright.

More than likely it is temporary. It sounds like they didn’t keep you overnight for acute kidney failure so all should be well. Make sure you get enough water intake and stay off the stuff for a while.

cody i need to ask you a question about creatine people are saying it causes liver damage??

It causes liver damage in excess. Just like anything else, it so happens that people think the more you take the better and end up going overboard. My advice is don’t ask on the internet because there are a lot of conflicting opinions and they aren’t always well informed even if well meaning, go see a doctor. Anyways yes creatine can cause damage but only in excess.
