Why???
So in my last post, I wrote "I have to watch out for overtraining", blah, blah, blah. Well, guess what! I didn’t listen to my own advice. I was doing one of my track workout days, and about half-way through, while doing Power Skipping drills, I felt a pop in my calf muscle as I pushed off of the ball of my right foot. That kind of pop is never good. I went straight home and iced it for the rest of the day, popped some Ibuprofen, saw my doctor who referred me to a Sport Medicine Dr, who referred me to physical therapy. I am two visits into my six PT sessions, and so far I have alot of bruising. It’s one week later, in fact, and it is still bruised from the base of my gastrocnemius to just above my ankle over the achilles tendon. I have a small tear in the muscle belly. It has hindered my workouts, for sure. Cardio, of which I’m supposed to be doing two hours a day, is hindered significantly. I can pretty much only manage some spinning and a little bit of elliptical. No running, no stairmaster, no plyos. That really makes dropping bodyfat much more difficult. All of my weight-training has to be done circuit style now, with nearly no rest between sets. My diet was tight already, as tight as I can go without shriveling up. I’ll be posting progress pics on Thursday, so we’ll see then how much damage I’ve done. 2 1/2 weeks until competition…

Injuries BLOW! No AND’S…..No IF’S…..No BUT’S! Sorry to hear about your calf: I do empathize with you. The last time I heard that pop was twelve years ago, when I ripped my ACL in half….It all happened in slow motion…I actually heard it stretch and then POP! It was, to say the least, a bleak day for me. Heal up soon, okay?

Damn… Sorry bout that. It sounds like you’ve got things in hand though and I don’t think this will derail your progress. Heal fast and best of luck to you.
