I was looking at my page, and realize I haven’t blogged in about a year and a half. It’s been an amazing time for me. I’ve lost and kept off nearly 80 pounds since then. I started playing rugby for the local club (nlrugby.org), and I had a starting position the first match I ever played! My cardio was excellent, and the loss of the weight was insrtumental in my success. I’m now deployed to Iraq (been here about four months), and I can’t wait to play rugby next spring. Right now I’m lifting like a maniac, and my strength gains are amazing me. I hope to cut my bodyfat down and reach about 200 pounds by spring (only 15 more to go), and I think that’s probably as near to my ideal weight as I can get. I’ll be leaner, but not give up too much size in the bargain. Progress pictures and bodyfat stats to be posted next Friday. Good luck to everyone on their goals. If I can do it, anyone can.

Haven’t posted in quite a while…not much new (or different) going on. Continuing to plug away at my bodyfat cut. Some days are good, some are not so good. I take the diet one day at a time. I know my bodyfat is going down, because my clothes are fitting better. It’s still hard to think that way when my weight stays the same.

Weekends are usually my downfall, at least in regards to my diet. This weekend I was actually able to stick with my diet completely. This is my longest sustained period of clean eating in many years. I can feel the difference. I’m not tired all the time. I don’t feel like crap when I’m at the gym. I’m doing 45 minutes of cardio in the early morning, and lifting in the afternoon. The diet was the missing key ingredient in my plan all these years.

I’m still progessing well. I feel good, and my strength is actually increasing, even though my carbs are fairly minimal, mostly from oatmeal and whole grains and steamed brocolli. I’m down 24 pounds since January, so I’m very happy. I got stuck at a ‘plateu’ for a week or so. In the past it would have discouraged me, but this time, I just continued my diet and routine, and it sorted itself out. I am still carrying alot of fat, but I’m starting to see upper abs and I’m getting more veins in my arms and legs. Only 40 more pounds to my goal weight. Almost half-way to my long-range goal. Go Navy!!!!

I started a half-way serious diet regimen about one month ago. I’ve always been into lifting, beginning with powerlifting in high school almost 20 years ago. The one thing I have been lacking is a disciplined diet. I have lost about 15 pounds since I began my ‘transformation.’ I believe I have been able to keep a large percentage of my muscle mass, following a high protein diet. I don’t really ever feel hungry, as I am eating at least 6 times a day, but I’m still keeping my caloric intake at a reasonable level. I can’t follow most cookie-cutter diets from magazines, as I still weigh over 260 pounds. I will continue to adjust my intake calculations as I lose weight/bodyfat. I began taking glutamine last week, along with my regular creatine intake. I started taking Lipo-6 yesterday. I’ll see how that works in the weeks to come. I feel like I still have lots of energy, both because I am getting enough calories, and being off junk food completely.
