Yesterday

July 24, 2007

I have to say yesterday was a good day (for a Monday). I dragged my ass outa bed in the a.m. despite all feelings of extreme exhuastion and slight bitterness at another day beginning just a tad bit too early than my internal clock would have preferred. I can’t fool myself anymore…5 or 5 hours of sleep just doesn’t cut it for me. I end up not being able to work out as hard as I would like (cause I’m half asleep) and I’m not making enough gains from day-to-day. Hmm…(tagent), I regress. Oh yeah, yesterday, was not so bad. After a go on the stairmaster, I hit up my back with lat pull downs, hyperextensions, straight-arm pull-downs, and seated rows. In the p.m. I get another bout with 1 1/2 hours of beach volleyball. I love getting in a workout by playing sports..so much more fun:-) I’ll run 3 miles tonight (remembering not to chow down on an enormous meal beforehand) and see if I can’t make it to the gym to workout legs this evening (no promises there, but we’ll see what happens…)

Food came first:-(…

July 19, 2007

Ughh, I said I would run 3 miles for cardio tonight; however, it didn’t quite pan out that way, unfortunately.
The thing was I ate a good sized dinner pretty late at night and when it came time to run i was feeling more than a little sluggish.
My good intentioned run turned into jog which, in turn, crapped out into a pathetic brisk walk. Note to self: either eat a smaller meal,
eat earlier so that you have time to digest, or strap it on and run through the distinct urge to vomit. I’ll have to wake up extra early
tomorrow morning so i can fit in some extra cardio…

Daily Nutrition

July 19, 2007

Morning Workout–Glutes (yay–my favorite)

Oatmeal w/ Protein Powder

Handful of Nuts;-)…(i dunno it just sounded funny)

Turkey Meatloaf w/ veggies

Another Handful of Nuts…hehe

2 small turkey burgers w/ veggies

1 sugar free cookie–oops–:-(…(i’m trying this was my first bad all week–I am such a recovering sugar fiend!!!!)

Run 3 miles

Protein Powder and Glutamine, btw–just starting the glutamine today. I’ve been feeling extra sore and a bit weaker than normal, not making the gains that i’d like in terms of strength, so I figured what the hey?! For those of you on the edge of your seats (this being said totally saracastically), I’ll keep ya posted…

The Downside of Vacation…advice anyone?

July 17, 2007

Okay, I need help. So, please, on the off chance that you are actually reading my blog and have some knowledge and wisdom on the subject at hand, please drop me a line or two and shed some light on this matter, it’ll be greatly appreciated. See the thing is… I’ve been giving it a valiant effort (in my humble opinion at least) for the past two months, trying to make some progress so that I don’t feel like a beached whale as I live in my bikini in the upcoming weeks when I go on my highly anticipated vacation. I guess my problem is two-fold so let me back up a bit…First off I have all of 15 days to make some huge gains. How do I maximize this relatively short amount of time to get the most measureable results possible? (hint: here’s where you share your expertise). Secondly, I’ve been lifting heavy (relatively speaking, of course) and regularly and it seems to be working; however, when I travel to a desserted island for two weeks there will be not a single dumbell in sight. How do I maintain the minimal amount of lean muscle mass I have without going to the gym? (Again, any and all advice is greatly appreciated). Thanks for lookin out…

Up and down and…ice cream?

July 9, 2007

I’m not really seeing much progress…I mean it’s up and down, but for the most part it just stays the same. I know that I need to shock my body–mix it up–and train harder to get the results that I want. I just get so damn impatient. Now, for the positive;-)…I am feeling stronger with more energy (that doesnt necessarily help me to fit into my clothes, but it counts for something right?!). i guess I’m just wondering, realistically, how long does it take before you see noticable results? (comments/advice welcome:) Am i almost there on the cusp of noticing dramatic improvements, right as i reach for the tub of half baked ice-cream? I read somewhere that empty, fat-ladden calories don’t help you to reach your goals…but, i think i spilled brownie batter on the article. Oh well, I got the jist and I know it’s true. It’s just hard to give up everything sweet and suculent under the sun without seeing some note-worthy progress markers…

Cardio Shmardio

July 5, 2007

You don’t really need to do cardio do you?….I mean, really, isn’t it overrated?? Like those abs products that came out a couple years back where you’d just watch tv and get jolted by some medium intensity electronic wave and presto! You’d have a six pack…Similarly, there was that ab-lounge chair, where you just oh so luxuriously lounge around watching your favorite show and get ripped. In fact, i think i recall in college, that my guy friends use to use the ab-lounger while they were drinking beer. Now that, my friends, is mutli-tasking!

As you may or may not have realized–these products are a Gimmick–with a capital G and capatilize on American’s lack of motivation. Thousands of desperate souls (myself included) willing to shell out bucks in order to get big results with minimum effort. So…then could it follow that cardio falls under the same vain of hyped-up, product- saturated money-making propaganda, where the industry is just trying to make a buck while pushing us to preform outlandish exercises on a stationary machine?!!

I don’t think so….but, sometimes I like to tell myself that.
