Man Boobs

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

You know, losing weight should be an exciting time for an individual as hefty as I am and for all intents and purposes it is.  Last night however, I was getting out of the hot tub and I realized that a lot of fat gone from my chest area, I am getting man boobs.  What kind of sick joke is that.  You work your tail off to lose weight and you get boobs.  I know they will go away as I continue to lose weight, but man, that was a downer.  On the bright side, I lost weight again today and I am that much closer to my goals.

Nov 11th: Ouch

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

I got on the scale yesterday and I had gained almost 2 lbs since the week before.  I wish I could say that it was muscle but it wasn’t.  I was much more strict yesterday so I got on the scale this morning to see if I was going the right direction.  I was down .6 lbs.  That made me happy.

Then this morning I decided to try Eddie Lomax’s Tabata protocol.  It is deceivingly simple but it kicked my but.  Basically it is 3 exercises done to high intensity.  Bodyweight Squats, Pushups and Chinnies with is a psychotic crunch.  The first set I did 10 squats 10 pushups and 10 chinnies and felt fatiqued but pretty good.  I decided to up the squats in the second set to 15.  I thought my head was going to explode.  I did the same for the 3rd set and felt a little better but it was all I could do to do 10/10/10 for the last set.  Then I had to go upstairs to take a shower.  That was challenging.  My legs felt like rubber. So for anyone who is just starting out, I highly recommend it. It only takes about 12 or 13 minutes but it is intense.

Workout:
Squats/Pushups/Chinnies  10/10/10 - 15/10/10 - 15/10/10 - 10/10/10

Nov 7th: Evenings are hard

Friday, November 7th, 2008

I am struggling with my eating in the evenings.  I have everything planned out for the day and it is easy since I am not by my kitchen with ready access to food.  Today was better as I actually wrote down what I planned to eat.  I did deviate a little but not too terribly much.  I can and I will do this,  I just have to get these night time cravings under control.

Nov 4th: Election day

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

While I did not vote for Obama, he has one thing right.  It is time for change.  I have proved to myself over the last month that I can change.  I am changing.  I am not always perfect at it but I can get through it.  I worked from home today which is always dangerous.  I did not go totally crazy but since I did not  have my meals all planned out, I ate more than I should have.  I have said it before and I will say it again, planning is the key.  I will get through this, one day at a time.

Nov 1st: The tale of the tape

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

I took my measurements, well my wife did, and I have made good progress.  From my picture you can see a little difference but I couldn’t be happier.  I lost 1 1/2 inches from my waist.  I celebrated by having a true cheat day.  I was craving mac & cheese and the first 3 bites were sooooo good.  Then it started tasting kind of not as good.  Then I had chinese for dinner with my wife.  It was really really good.  And to top it off I had cherry bordeaux ice cream for desert.  This last month I haven’t really let myself have a true cheat day.  I think i deserved one.  So tomorrow, it is back to my portion control and eating well.  I will do this, one day at a time.

October 31st: Happy Halloween

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Tis the season to eat candy.  I feel very proud of the fact that I can count on 1 hand the number of pieces of candy I had this year.  And they really didnt even taste very good.  I have been a little sloppy with my eating the last couple of days.  I will weigh in and measure tomorrow morning to see what progress I have made in the last month.  Here’s hoping.

October 28th: The month is almost over. Really good progress.

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

I got on the scale this morning out of curiosity.  I wanted to see what the daily difference was between strictly watching my food and being a little lazy.  Sure enough I lost .6 lbs from Monday to Tuesday.  It just goes to show you what monitoring your eating can do.

October 26th: Sunday Sunday

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Today was a good eating day.  I paid close attention to everything I put in my mouth.  If I keep it up this way I will make progress.  I also walked for a mile today.

October 25th: My cheat day

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

This week has not been the greatest.  It wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t great.  One day at a time and I will make it through this.  Next week will be better.  I really need to pay attention to the night time.  That is where I get in trouble with my eating.  I can do this.
