Help!

Monday, July 28th, 2008

I wanted to add another day to my A & B so that I have 4 days on each because there were exercises that I wasn’t getting in that I wanted to do…but now I am having trouble filling in the rest.  Any suggestions?  Or any ideas on where I can find a list of suggested exercises?   When I first came back on this site I remember redoing my profile and stuff and I thought there was a whole section that showed different exercises and now I can’t find it…AHH!

July 27 - Yoga

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

I decided to go to Yoga today…just because.  We didn’t go to bowling so I figured yoga would be a nice way to relax.  It was kinda fun but I realized that I have a hard time focusing on my breathing.  And I don’t know if it was because my legs and muscles were kinda sore from yesterday but it didn’t seem THAT relaxing.  Maybe I’ll have to go when I’m not feeling sore.  Although, I must say, I was rather impressed with my flexibility.  :]

I ate Chipotle for lunch/dinner. Mike had a little oven pizza thing. And man, now his farts STINK! I’m gagging.  haha These may be the worst farts that I’ve ever smelled come out of him.  *gag* :]  haha

July 26 - CHISEL and B3

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

I went to the CHISEL class and man, I’m beat.  We did around the world squats/lunges, pullovers and abs, deadlifts (regular and straight legged), plank holds, declined pushups, tricep holds, rows, barbell curls, overhead triceps, and lateral raises.  Doug is my favorite teacher guy and he always makes me work hard and I ALWAYS feel refreshed afterwards and sore the next day.  But Mike went to go play basketball so I stuck around for a little while after the class and I did my B3.  Here’s what I did:

Leg Press Calf: 90×2/140×2/180

Ab/Adductors: 50×2/60×2/75

Preacher Curls: I skipped these because my poor biceps were burning from the CHISEL class.  Next time…

I also decided that there are some exercises that I didn’t have in my regimine (like flys…) so I think I’m going to add an A4 and a B4 day.  I’ll do some thinking at work…I have nothing else to do.  Hah.

July 23 - Abs and A3

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

I had a job interview on Tuesday so I couldn’t go to the abs class, so I went on Wednesday instead.  I didn’t really like it as much, just because there was a different instructor and she didn’t really get me motivated and keep me going as well as Susan usually does.  So meh, I didn’t feel very accomplished afterwards so I stuck around and did my A3 workout.  Here’s what I ended up doing;

Flat barbell press: 40×5

Upright Rows: 4 plates x2/5 plates x3

Seated Rows: 4 plates x3/5 plates x2

Skullcrushers: 25×5

Like I said last time, I kinda ditched the rest pause thing and I just have been doing 5 sets of 10 reps, adjusting the weight as necessary.  Also, I asked the guy at the gym what the weight measures for some of the machines are since I knew that the one time I was doing my triceps pressdown that there wasn’t THAT much of a loss in strength from the last time I worked out.  He told me that each plate doesn’t necessarily have a set standard weight and all plates on all machines are different.  So he said to just take note of the number of plates and try to go with consistency. So that’s what I’m going to do.  In the few previous ones I posted 40 as if it were 40lbs but in actuallity it would really be 4 plates.  So that’s that. :]

Oh, and working out my arms pretty hard before bowling proved to be not the best idea…hah.

July 19 - CHISEL and Spin

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

Mike went to go play basketball this morning, which was good because I got up and went to the gym.  I went to the CHISEL class that does the supersets and stuff.  The teacher lady was Susan this week; she’s the lady that does the abs class on Tuesdays.  It was pretty rough.  We did squats, rows, upright rows, lunges, triceps, glute exercises, biceps, and some other stuff in there.  Phew.  Then I decided to stay for the spin class.  I was thinking that I should stay on a Tuesday because the abs class is before that, so it won’t drain any energy from my legs.  And Susan teaches the spin class after her abs class on Tuesday.  Some other lady taught the class today but she was super nice and adorable.  There is this girl that I always see that goes to the CHISEL class on Monday, the abs class on Tuesday and then stays for the spin class, and apparently another class after that. So she kinda talked me into staying.  I didn’t do everything they were doing because the teacher said to take it easy the first time and just try to get a feel for the bicycle but man, I was still hurting.  Halfway through I thought I wasn’t going to make it to the end of the hour.  But I felt like I got a good workout.  I guess the measure will be how much my legs hurt later, and tomorrow, and Monday.  Haha.

It seemed interesting to me that there were people in there that seemed like they were regulars in the class, with their spandex riding shorts and shirt and the bike shoes and the extra padded seat cushion but they didn’t seem like they were in shape.  They weren’t huffing and puffing all that much but they didn’t LOOK very in shape.  They were pretty beefy to tell you the truth.  Like that one girl that goes to all of those classes…she’s not FAT but she’s not slim either.  If I were her and I spent as much time as she does in the gym (at least an hour Monday, 3 hours Tuesday and 2 hours Saturday…and I’m sure more during the week) then I would be upset if I didn’t look better than she does.  Pssh.

Mike is doing a fantasy football thing with his boss and his boss’ brother and a few other people like friends from work and such.  His boss’ brother is having a bar-b-que (or "cookout" if you will) this afternoon to celebrate the autoselection process of the draft.  Haha.  Anything to have a get together.  I think me and Mike are going to be the only "younger" people there, as far as I know.  His two other friends that are our age (that are already married) aren’t going.  One isn’t going because his wife has something else to do, and the other isn’t going because he’s playing on the flag football team that Mike used to be the quarterback for and they are going to Pennsylvania for a tournament this weekend.  Anyway, I like Mike’s boss so it should be fun.  I really want a slurpee though.  Maybe I’ll make Mike stop and get one for me on the way out there.  They have this new Monster Black Ice flavor or something like that and it’s super duper good.  It kinda tastes like the old snow cones that you used to get from the ice cream man when it melted and all of the colors blended together.  Mmm.  Delicious.

Alright.  Showertime.  Peace out.

July 14 - A2 & B2/July 15 - Abs

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

This week has been crazy!  Wednesday I had bowling, Thursday I had training for Big Brothers Big Sisters, Friday I had my interview for that and I had car trouble, Saturday Mike and I went to Water Country USA, and Sunday I had to study for the GRE that I took yesterday.  With all of that going on, I didn’t really find much time to go to the gym…I’m a lazy bum, I know.  I took the GRE (which I don’t really feel too good about…boo!) and then I had to wait a few hours before Mike got off of work so I decided to go to the gym.  I ended up doing A2 AND B2 since I had been out of the gym for so long.  I felt like I had to make up for something.  Here’s what I did:

A2:

Incline Machine - 70H: 6/3/0

Dumbell Shoulders - 20H: 6

Lat Pulldown - 40×5*

Triceps Pressdown - 40×5*

***These machines were wierd! The weight stack was labeled 2, 4, 6, 8, etc. on every other weight, which I had assumed to mean that each weight was 10lbs.  But there was NO WAY that I could only do 40lbs for my lats and triceps when before I was doing 80+ easily.  So I’m not too sure about what’s going on with them.

B2:

Dumbell Curls - 15×2/20×2/25

Calf Machine - 45×2/55×2/70

Seated Hamstring - 50×2/60×2/85

Leg Press - 90×2/140×2/180

For these, I decided to ditch the restpause stuff and just go right at it with 5 sets of 10 reps, increasing the weight after the first two and again after the second two.  I think that works out better for me.  I felt like I got a better workout and it’s something that I can consistently do with my upper body and my lower body.  I’m feeling it pretty sore today, not THAT bad but enough to know I got a good workout.  I went to the super abs class with my friend Renee.  It was fun.  Now it’s time for dinner.  No gym tomorrow because of bowling.  Peace.

July 8 - Tuesday = Super Abs

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Gonna keep it short and simple because I’m hanging out with Mike. :]

I didn’t go to the gym this morning because I had to take Abby to playtime.  I went afterwork and did 15 minutes on the treadclimber where this guy next to me was sweating buckets and dripping all over.  It was rather disgusting if you ask me.  Then I went to my Core Central Abs class.  It was pretty fun but it seems like everything hurts so much.  I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel like I have to stop before the end of every exercise.  I wonder why that is.  Maybe one day I’ll be able to do it the whole time like everybody else.  And we used one of those big rubber exercise balls…remind me next time to get one of the SMALLER ones.  My legs are too short to do that shit and it’s more frustrating to me than anything.  Then I came home and Mike and I had dinner and now we’re relaxing. :]

July 7 - Monday = CHISEL

Monday, July 7th, 2008

I’m going to keep this short and sweet because my arms feel like they are going to fall off.  I went to the gym this morning and did 45 minutes of cardio on the elliptical.  I used the interval program on 3&6 and burned 490 calories over 4.2 miles.  It felt good since having the weekend off but for some reason it always feels so hot and humid in there once I get going.  Maybe I’m just a sweaty beast when I workout. :]  Then this afternoon I went to the CHISEL class.  We did a bunch of supersets: Sqats and around the world lunges, pullovers and abs, dead lifts and straight leg dead lifts, planks, declined pushups and dips, bicep curls and rows and finally overhead triceps and lat raises.  It felt so good but now I feel fatigued.  My arms hurt!

Tomorrow I’m going to go to the CORE class and then maybe do my B1 day.  Phew.

July 4 - Stupid Work! Amazing Fireworks!!

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

The gym had wierd hours yesterday so I couldn’t make it.  They were open from 730-4 and I had to work from 830-5 (I know, working on the holiday sucks…and I didn’t even get time and a half…but my boss is a DICK!).  I worked all day, it was pretty slow and I think they were kind of disappointed in the sales but that only makes me laugh.  I got in trouble for having my lip pierced, for having my shoulders showing, for wearing a denim skirt, and for wearing sandals…which I think is ridiculous.  I’ve had my lip pierced for a week now and the owner just noticed it yesterday because he was standing like up in my face.  So now all of a sudden it’s a huge deal when for the past week he’s looked at me and not even noticed.  If he hasn’t noticed, what makes him think other people aren’t going to notice?  I take the ball off when I’m at work so it just looks like a little dot.  Then I got in trouble for wearing a tank top because my shoulders were showing.  But the retarded part about that is that I’ve worn that shirt there many times over the past few weeks and they haven’t said a word to me about it.  The rumor on the streets is that one of the GMs is a perv and he likes to look (well, every guy that works there is pretty much a perv…) and his wife, the other GM, can’t handle it so she makes all the girls cover up.  It’s not like my boobs or my stomach were sticking out.  It was my shoulders for crying out loud!  Everybody has them so I don’t know what all the fuss is about.  Then I got in trouble for the denim skirt because I’m not allowed to wear "jeans" but I know that I’ve worn the skirt at least once a week since it started getting warmer and nobody said a word.  Then, I wear these shoes with no socks but they make my feet get sweaty (and smelly) so when I’m just sitting at my desk I take them off.  I don’t like to walk around with no shoes on so I wear my sandals while I’m in my office.  The wall is super big and the people can’t even see down the other side to see my feet so it doesn’t really matter anyway.  Oh, then I got in trouble for having the tattoo on my foot showing…WTF.  It’s been showing everyday since I got the thing in December.  The owner apparently was going off and yelling so loud that a few salespeople came over to ask me what he was upset with me for.  Haha.  It doesn’t really matter to me. If they’re going to fire me, fire me.  I really hate this job anyway.  Another thing that pissed me off about it is that there is this other girl that was going to come in to relieve me and I asked if she came in early if I could leave early.  She wasn’t supposed to clock in until 5:00 but she clocked in at 1:48 and then was nowhere to be found.  I’m pretty sure one of my bosses told her not to stick around so that I wouldn’t be able to leave early, which pissed me off because everybody in the back offices got to leave at 2, including the lady that told her that, but I had to stay until 5.  LAME!  So I’m going to have a word with them about her clocking in before 5 and then going to do whatever and sitting in her car until 5.  She even came in after 5 on the timeclock so it’s a good thing I got the GM to count the money with me because I would have been there even later!  GRR.

Alright, enough bitching about that.  After work Mike and I were on our way to Lunga Lake at Quantico.  While we were on the interstate going up there (it’s about 20 miles up the interstate from where I work) there was lightning and huge claps of thunder and then just a torrential downpour.  Everybody on the interstate freaked out and slammed on their breaks and I’m pretty sure there were like 2 accidents.  The rain seemed like it came out of nowhere.  Since it was only 530ish and the fireworks weren’t going to be until at least 915 we decided that we could get something to eat rather than go sit at the park in the rain like everybody else.  We ended up going to the Outback Steakhouse and having a really cool server and then headed up to the Lake.  It was still kinda drizzling when we got there but it calmed down.  We hung out with his boss and walked around and stuff.  Then it started raining just as it was getting dark so we decided to go to the truck and watch them from there.  We got there and sat on the tailgate and I was worried that we might be too far away to see them very well, even though it wasn’t THAT far, but it turned out that we probably had the best seats in the house! They were shooting them off right by us and they were kinda loud, but they were awesome to watch.  Probably one of the best 4th of July’s I can remember, if not THE best. :]  I was really glad to be there with him.  Then he was worried that his truck wasn’t going to make it out of all the mud but he gave her a little "pep-talk" and got her going.  We made it out and it’s a good thing we weren’t headed back to base housing because there was traffic up the wazoo.  We just drove right out the other gate and were on our way.  I had a good time, despite having to work all day while he got to lay around the house doing NOTHING! haha. :]

July 3 - A1

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

I was still kinda sore yesterday morning and I was REALLY tired and it was REALLY cold out from under the covers so I just decided to skip the gym.  My legs appreciated it.  I went to the gym after work today though.  I did 30 minutes on the elliptical, burning 340 calories over 2.9 miles.  I did the interval program on resistance level 5.  Then I did 15 minutes on the stepper, burning 110 calories over 1.28 miles.  I took 65 steps/minute and had an average MET of 7.  Nice work.

Then, I ventured my way over to the weights and got my groove on:

Inclined Barbell Press - 25:7

Machine Press - 70:7

Pullups - 70:3×10 (I don’t do rest-pause with these, just 3×10; dips, too)

Dips - 60:2×10; 50:1×10

The gym has special hours tomorrow so I won’t be able to make it, but I’ll probably be recovering in bed anyway.  Haha Mike has the day off but I have to work…getting out of bed when he’s still in it is so difficult! Ugh.  But, oh well.  I love fireworks and I’m pretty convinced that this 4th of July is going to be much better than last years so that’s good enough for me.  :]

Oh, and I made this awesome cake/cobbler thing…it’s probably super bad for you but it was DELICIOUS!  I took 2 cans of diced peaches and put them in a baking pan.  Then on top of that I put one can of strawberries.  Then one box of yellow cake mix and a bit of butter and baked it.  It was amazing! Seriously.  Okay, that’s enough. :]
