Meh

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

I went to the gym 2x this week before/after work and did a little bit of cardio (nothing great, like 15-20 minutes) and that’s about it.  I was going to do my RP Day B1 workout but I just didn’t have the time, or energy, after being on my feet at work for 8 hours.  I’m actually going to apply to be a personal trainer at 24 hour fitness but for some reason when I told Ben about it he made some smartass comment about them just wanting to screw me? which I found a little odd.  I don’t have any certifications aside from my B.S. degree but we’ll see if I can/will get more.

Well, just wanted to update my status:  fat lump of lard that is getting huge and lazy…I’m starting to disgust myself but I can’t seem to find the motivation to change it.  It helps a lot when Ben and I are able to go to the gym together but that hasn’t happened in forever…over a month, at least.

Well, cya on the fat side…

Back on Track

Monday, July 9th, 2007

So we have been slacking a little…er…a lot lately.  Ben avowed that this week he was going to get back on track so I figured that I would give it a try too.  We are going to do cardio every day, whether it be at the gym or just running outside, and we are going to try to go to the gym as much as possible.  For me, whenever I work it is possible because the gym shares the same parking lot as Jamba Juice, so I really have no excuse.  It’s just staying around there after I’m off of work, knowing that I’m going to get all sweaty and tired in the gym and then have to sit in the car and drive for 20+ minutes home in the 100+ degree heat is very appalling so I don’t have the drive to do it.

The other day…Saturday I believe it was…I was working and went to the gym during my 30 minute break to do some cardio and guess who was there…No, You’re wrong! Close though…Alright I’ll just tell you: the Phoenix Suns summer league team.  They were practicing in the basketball courts.  It was pretty cool.  A few of the agent guys came over to Jamba and got some smoothies.  Too bad they couldn’t give me tickets to the summer league games.  Ben and I were planning on going to a few on Tuesday…Tomorrow but who knows if we really will go.  I know that Harry Potter comes out tomorrow night at Midnight and I’m pretty sure that he wants to see that and I know that he wants to see Live Free or Die Hard because all of his friends have been raving about it so maybe we will go see some movies instead.  We do get half-priced tickets to the buffet. Haha.

Anyway, today was kind of a strange day.  I slept in, Ben ripped some really smelly farts while I was trying to sleep and I thought I was going to die so I was rudely awoken gasping for my last breath.  Haha.  :]  We went to South Point to place some bets on a horse race and see what was going on.  Then we came home and he went to work and I went back to the casino after I showered and made myself presentable.  I went to B-I-N-G-O at 3pm and bought tickets to the Gala they are having at the beginning of August.  It is two days of B-I-N-G-O for $150 and some ridiculous number of games and possible prizes.  I think it’s going to be a blast.  Then I got some lunch and watched the beginning of the home run derby.  We bet some money on Vlad because they were paying 6/1 and he ended up winning! GO BIG DADDY VLADDY! :]  Not a bad win, if I do say so myself.  I wasn’t even going to bet on it (well, I didn’t even know we could!) but then Ben and Gavin said we should so I placed a bet for Ben and I.  We both went in half for a $10 ticket which ended up paying $70.  Woot! I told myself that I’m going to take a few days off from sports betting though because the MLB seems to hate me at the moment.  I also want to play in the live poker tourney that they have at 10am daily but I’m too much of a chicken.  I don’t know what’s wrong with me but I just get so darn nervous.  Deep down inside I know that I know what I’m doing…at least most of the time…and I understand that I’m going to get beat even if I play to the best of my abilities…but I just get nervous that I’m going to do the wrong thing or that the other people will realize that I’m nervous and try to play me like a fiddle or be able to figure me out too easily.  I’ll just have to muster up the courage to do it and just do it.  What have I got to lose…$45? Pssh. I’d end up spending it on sports betting or pai gow or in the slot machines anyway.  I might as well gain some experience from it.  One of the things on my list of things to do before the year is over is to cash in a live tourney…but I can’t do that if I don’t play in any, right?  And the year is half over so I better get cracking! :]

Anyway, the point of this blog entry was to tell you about the cardio that I did today.  I got home from the casino and saw a note from our landlord guy complaining about us not doing the dishes…so I was a little erked to begin with.  I decided that rather than let it bother me, I was going to go out for a little run, because I should be doing cardio anyway.  So I ended up running from our house, around the corner and all the way up past Haven to the construction and back to Haven before stopping.  It was still kinda hot outside…hell it’s still 101 now at 9:30!…so I was getting rather thirsty but I made myself get to that point before I stopped.  Then I walked all along Haven until I got to Barbara and then ran all the way down Barbara from Haven to Gillespie and all the way down Gillespie to Neal.  When I got to the creepy house I stopped and walked until I go to the school crosswalk and then ran all the way back to the driveway.  I took me about 20 minutes, which I was rather proud of.  Ben ran it earlier and it took him about the same amount of time, but his walking/running segments were more controlled.  My phone doesn’t have the same kind of clock/timer that his does so it was a little harder for me to keep track timewise, so I just did it based on the distance.

Anyhow, I ran, and now I’m tired so I’m going to read and go to sleep.  I have to be at work at 5:30am tomorrow. YUCK!

June 30 - 10 Miles

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

This weekend we had our 10 mile run.  I think we did pretty well considering that we had 2 weeks off and skipped our two 12 mile runs.  It took us about 2 hour.  We did the first loop in 30 minutes but then we walked the next loop almost entirely which took about 45 minutes and then ran/walked the last loop which took about 40 minutes and then had to add another lap around the school.  It was starting to get hot and we didn’t have adequate supplies of water so it got a little difficult.  My knee held up alright: it started to hurt but I pushed through it a bit since the pain wasn’t excruciating, although my hamstring started to hurt quite a bit.

But the point is: we did it!
