Unclean eating on vacation!

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

I totally blew it on vacation to Ocean City!  It was an entire 7 days of donuts, bacon, cereal, fruit for breakfast.  Followed by nachos supreme for lunch (about the healthiest choice on the beachfront grill menu) and way too much food for dinner.  Not to mention all the late night ice cream runs….  I have NEVER weighed over 145 (except when I was pregnant).  I cannot believe I was almost 150 pounds when I returned from vacation.  I even ran 3 miles 4 out of the 6 mornings we were there!  I guess it’s time to start all over!  That’s why I’m back on bodyspace.  Any encouragement out there would be very welcome!

Need to start over!

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

I was doing so well…. I even did awesome on our cruise!  I got up early each morning and ran a few miles, lifted, ate clean (for the most part).  I had only gained two pounds on the entire week long cruise which I thought was awesome.  But then I came home to a stressful job, crappy winter weather, and a total lack of motivation…..  So I am now almost back to where I started on Jan 1!  I guess I just need to stop feeling sorry for myself and remember that I am way less stressed when I put my body first!

Overall improvements

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

I am proud to be less fixated with the scale these days.  I have been taking body measurements and weighing in weekly now.  Although my weight is "sticking" right around 139 to 140, I am starting to see more definition in my arms and back, and my legs are in great shape.  I also am seeing a definite "firmness" to my stomach now.  Overall, I am feeling more trim and things are fitting perfectly.  I am mostly eating clean, but still struggle with the need for chocolate.  I have been "rewarding" myself with a small amount of dark chocolate on occasion if I have had a totally clean day.  I was also proud to make it through superbowl weekend without any damage.

The big challenge is coming up next week as my husband and I will be taking a week long cruise.  I know we’ll have good workouts and I know I’ll do plenty of running on deck, but boy, is there some awesome food on those cruises!!  Here’s to making good choices!

Discouraged

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

Somewhat discouraged today because I did so well yesterday but my weight was up this morning, regardless.  I know I am changing fat to muscle and muscle weighs more, but I am a very goal oriented person and since I don’t have skin calipers, etc here at the house, the only way for me to judge improvement is by what that darn scale says.  I did well again today and did a nice shoulder/bi/tri workout this morning.  Tomorrow is back to school however, so I am dreading that.  I need to really work at fitting in my workouts once I am back in school.  I have a hard time getting out of bed before 5am (which I would need to be up at 4:30 to workout before work), and by the time I get home at 4pm, help the boys with homework, fix dinner, do stuff around the house, it is 8pm and I am exhausted and not feeling like working out.  Maybe I’ll go to bed now (at 8pm) so I can get my butt out of bed at 4!

Eating Clean in 2009!

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

I am so proud of my clean eating habits today!  High in protein, low in carbs.  Lots of good, healthy foods!  Dinner was steak, shrimp, steamed sugar snap peas, salad, and a plate of fresh fruit.  We have plans to see a movie tonight and I will smuggle in my own lowfat popcorn.  My treat in the evening (only if I’ve had a perfect day) is 5 dark chocolate Hershey Kisses.

Had a great leg and back workout today and my shoulders are nicely sore from yesterday’s workout!  Thinking about running a 5k in the morning, but it’s only supposed to be about 12 degrees at race time so I’m still debating!

New Year’s

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

Thought maybe I’d blow it today what with staying out too late last night, etc….  But I started my day with a egg white, green pepper, and onion omelet and yogurt.  Then I did an awesome shoulder, bicep, tricep workout.  Ate a bowl of turkey soup that I made myself from leftovers.  Dinner tonight was tough as we were invited to my inlaws.  The food there is delicious, but not exactly high protein, low carb.  I figure the roast pork was good for my protein, but the two vegetables were mashed potatoes and creamed peas.  I had small portions of each and then had two bowls of fruit salad.  (unfortunately probably some canned, high fructose stuff).  I managed to get by with two small bites of brownie for dessert.  Overall, not bad.  I am determined to finish this first day of the new year with a yoga workout.  Also, started taking fish oil today.

Welcome!

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Sick and tired of being sick and tired.  Tired of having excuses for not eating healthy.  Tired of excuses for not working out.  Today is a new day.  (tomorrow is actually a new year).   The best is yet to come!
