Monday, August 10th, 2009No, I don’t need you to take off the plates… yes, I am going to leg press these 1065lbs…uh, yes, me myself and I can leg press that much… are you going to watch?
I am not going crazy here, but I am in the gym same time every morning, doing the same thing I do every week, build the racks and leg press as much as I can before my legs say “UNCLE”, and squat until I feel a puke on it’s way… eww I know. That’s my training, that’s my way and I like it…LOL. I get the stink eye by the ladies and the jaw drops by some of the guys, and to my surprise this week, I noticed that the same gym rats I see everyday still stop to watch when I leg press. All I can say to whoever I catch staring or making a comment is “looks are deceiving!!”
What I don’t get in the gym is “why do men automatically assume you need help? Why do they offer to take off plates from machines and not give us the benefits of the doubt in the gym?
We (women) can’t really say that’s their way of starting conversation, I really think some men just don’t conceive that fact the “some” of us gentle creatures can out do them in certain area’s such as legs and abs!! It’s in our making, try to argue it all you want!!
The first paragraph was an actual conversation that I had few weeks back, and just this Thursday I’ve had it again with a different person… talk about a déjà vu moment!!
Gym rats, give the ladies a chance to try things, if and when you do see us struggling or ask for your help, then lend a hand.
