People will wonder

Recently I’ve been going to a lot of parties and seeing ppl I haven’t seen for a long time, maybe for 5 years….and pictures that are taken pop up as tagged photos on facebook and they get noticed. So many of the ppl I’m seeing for the first time in a while look suprised when they see me "omg what happened to u?" "where have u gone?" "ur anorexic, what have u been doing?(as a joke..kinda). I’m kinda vague about my lifestyle and say I eat natural and train a lot, and then everyone starts going on about how do you make it happen, how do u stick to it bla bla

The thing is, everytime someone asks me that, I remember feeling that way- being desperate to change (but enough to actually make the change) and I really want to tell them everything- the nutrition, the timing, the training, everything….and sometimes I do waste my time answering my friends’ questions but whats the point? They don’t get it.

To me, this whole thing feels like a secret…. eat right, lift weights, do a bit of cardio- and u get the body u want !!! Hello? It feels like a secret because either ppl don’t know enough about the correct formula because its a trial & error thing, or they’re in denial and hope theres another, easier way.

I feel like I want to share it with other people who complain about their bodies but, as u fellow bodyspacers know, it takes discipline, consistency and time. I’m not writing this blog out of frustration, i’m not even annoyed about it- I’m just happy all the knowledge can be shared here with you similarly- motivated people.

I hear you 100%!! Its so true you want to tell them all the times spent in the gym and how to eat properly, but by the time you get to the end they are looking for the cookie tray and not paying attention! Nice blog!

I can relate with this post 100%. The answer to how to get in shape has been the same since forever. People love hearing about extreme diets and how you do something "over the top" to get in shape. I just make up stories about crazy diets and 5 hour workouts. :)

LOL great replies, nothing we can do except focus our energies on our own achievable goals.

Ditto. Great post. Sadly, the simple truth is most people don’t want to get off the couch, turn off the TV, push away the donuts & chips, manage their time & do a little WORK.

Too bad most people think it’s some secret formula or magic pill. You look GREAT. Keep charging.

Yep, I feel ya! People always want to know how you did it. It funny that when you tell them it was the formula that you mentioned that always say, theres got to be more to it. You ate so special suppl. or you just are a gym a holic! Or I don’t have the time, or excuse after excuse after excuse! So funny! It just pain old hard work, a lot of sacrifice and eating what is good food! That it, isn’t life so simple!

Great blog. It helps me see other people’s trial and error to cut out some of the error for myself. The basic’s are the same but it’s such an individual thing for each of us. Nice to hear other people go through the same thing I do.

I think people want it to be easy. They want a magic pill…How is your shoulder doing?

  8. Jonahgirl Says:

Yes, I hear you!! AMEN! What they are really saying is please tell me to took a pill, ate anything you wanted, and didn’t exercise. Jsump2 is right. First they can’t believe eating right and exercising really works then it is followed by their litany of excuses of why they can’t do it.

Oh boy, I’m gonna get myself in trouble here… but I have to say that although I agree with you, I also disagree. Not everyone will ignore your advice. Not everyone is too lazy to put in the work. And not everyone will look for excuses for why they can’t change their body. It’s true that a lot of people will follow that pattern, but not everyone will.

You said it yourself… you used to be one of those people desperately looking to change, but not following through. But at some point, the right triggers happened and you DID change!

I like to believe that I just might catch someone at that perfect time when everything "clicks" in their mind and they are truly ready to make that change. So if I tell a hundred people my secrets and even one listens or remembers later on what I said, then it will be worth it!

That’s exactly what happened to me. And I was able to recall all of the advice given by different people when I finally made that change in my mindset and was ready to put forth the effort needed. I’m sure I had several people rolling their eyes at me when I asked them how they got in shape and what their "secrets" were. But when I was ready in my own mind, I was able to use the advice I had received over time.

So even if your friends "don’t get it" now, they may later down the road. And if not, at least you gave them the benefit of your knowledge!

I agree 100%, my personal opinion is that most people know what needs to be done to achieve what desired look they wanted, but for people to say how you do that? what surgery?, what diet plan, etc say it because they are jealous, and realized to them self that they could have or shoud have done it too. I by no means at the same level of fitness as you are but I totaly agree. great Blog.

Out society’s got far too used to ‘quick fixes’ for everything and never having to exert much, if any, effort to get what they want. Not saying it’s not worwhile to try and encourage people to work out and eat right but finding someone who’s eyes don’t glaze over at the mention of heavy weights or cutting down on junk food is another story.
