I lifted legs last night. My superpump 250 didn’t seem to help much. I felt tired before I even started. But I think I got a pretty good workout in. When it was time to do cardio it I went to 4 different machines before I could find one that worked. That’s so frustrating, you look like a retard pressing buttons and trying to get the damn thing to work until you give up. And the person next to you, knows damn well the machine isn’t working and they don’t bother just to say it’s not working. So two treadmills, one treadclimber and one crossramp later, I was doing my cardio. I think I got a pretty good cardio workout in too, I was sweating pretty good.
5 min warmup on treadmill
leg press 3×12x60
smith squats 3×12x50
smith lunges 1×12x10 1×10x10 these were killing me
standing calf raises 3×12x30
seated leg curls 1×12x35 2×12x50
leg ext. 1×12x35 2×12x50
30 min on crossramp

Went to my old gym last night, wow what a difference. It’s so much less crowded and I like it better. I’ll probably start going there alot more. They have less weight machines but enough and alot more open treadmills and other cardio machines. Also parking is much easier, but it sucks because I pass the other gym on the way to this one. Last night was chest/bi’s/shoulders, here’s what I did. Seemed like a very light workout, I didn’t have any superpump so I felt like I was dragging. Plus it was very hot in there.
5 min warmup on stairmaster
flyes 3×12x20
chest press 2×12x20 1×12x25
bicep machine curls 2×12x20 these were hard and it didn’t go less than 20 lbs
db curls 2×12x10 1×10x10
shoulder press 3×12x15
lateral raise machine 3×12x10
pronated leg curls 2×12x35 my IT band was bugging me & I had to stop
Then I did cardio 30 min intervals on treadmill, I was so freaking hot!

Not that there is anything wrong with a good pitbull. But George is not a pitbull! He’s a Boxer! Granted they are from the same family. When I look at him I see a big loving baby which he is, apparently though when other people see him especially niave people who don’t know dogs, they see a scary looking intimidating dog, ha if only they knew he’d lick them to death not maul them to death. But I guess him looking intimidating is a good thing for a woman who runs alone. Of course if I was in any true danger he’d protect me. Last weekend when we went for a run it was great, he was in control and we didn’t have too many issues but today it was crazy. He actually barked this time and of course it was at the pitbull. George is tough and Boxers are strong dogs but he ain’t no pitbull so I’d hate for one of those dogs to get loose sometime, which makes me think I’m going to rearrange my running route next time. German shepards, labs and other dogs just bark and that’s about it, but the pitbulls run to the fence like they want to attack and it doesn’t look playful. There was some kind of mix possibly a Boxer/pitbull mix and George went nuts when he saw him, he was jumping all over the place. Good thing I’m strong enough to control him and we had the harness on because other wise he would have got loose. Then soon after we walked by this guy washing his car and he’s all looking over like you better keep that dog away from me and I’m just laughing inside, thinking chill out dude. Then when we were almost home this lady and her three little boys were out in their yard and she just stood up and stared at us and the little boy goes wow look at that pitbull and that’s when it dawned on me, people are really scared of him. George wasn’t barking, growling or doing anything really and they were still nervous. Unfortunately even though George is not a pitbull, he is in the same family and pitbulls have made a very bad name for these type of dogs. It’s so sad because it’s not the dogs faults but the irresponsible owners. You can tell when people know Boxers because they get really excited when they see one and they make comments of how beautiful he is, but if you don’t know dogs I guess he would look scary.
Anyway, we had a decent run. Brenden went with us too, so this might have added to Georges extra stress. Running with a child is hard, he runs fast, then slow, stops when dogs bark, so this probably didn’t help George. It was all very distracting. But hey I got a good upper body workout controlling him.
We ran 2.772 miles. Tomorrow we’ll probably go for a walk and learn a better route.

I’m soooo sore! I must have done something right this week because I can hardly move. Last night I had my free orientation with a personal trainer he was very nice and informative. According to his scale I have lost another pound, but this morning it was back. Should be gone Saturday. He was either a little impressed or annoyed with my knowledge on this subject. He didn’t really have too much to say because I am already pretty much doing what I need to. He did however show me some of my weaknesses which was good. I did the hand over head squat assesment. Apparently my hips are really tight and my abs are very weak.(which I really realized when I tried the roman chair) This is pretty much dead on. I was having trouble with my IT band a few months ago and though I’ve loosened it up a little I haven’t done everything I need to do and my hips are all tied into that. So he showed me 4 moves I can do to help stretch and strengthen that area, so that was really cool. Also I fould out my body fat %, (long pause) 28.5% eek. But hey I thought it might be 30% so I was happy to see 28.5%. So my goal is to get that down to 25% and then 20%. He said at the rate I’m going it will be a month or two and that my overall goal of losing 15lbs will take about 10 weeks. So here’s how my workout went yesterday, I’ll try and remember everything:
I started with a 5 min warmup on the treadmill (yes the treadmill, one was actually open) so in a panic I decided that while I was on there I’d go ahead and do my cardio. Once again remembering why I do cardio after weights, oh well. So it was 30 min of intervals. Oh yeah, also in that panic I forgot to stretch before I started running. I must have been manic yesterday or something, my anxiety was high for some odd reason. (I don’t have anxiety problems)
lat pulldown 1×12x20 1×12x40 1×12x30
row pulldown 3×12x25
cable tri ext. 1×12x20 2×12x30
tri ext machine 3×12x20
row 3×12x30
I didn’t do everything I had planned on, one because I was tired and two because the cable machines were intimidating me or someone was using what I wanted and I didn’t want to wait. I was just super tired last night. I’m glad I’m off until Monday. I hope I’m not too sore for my run tomorrow.
Oh and I didn’t run this morning, I’m too exhausted and sore. So I slept in a little. I’m chuggin’ the water today to help with the soreness.

Last night at the gym was much better. Wednesdays seem to be less crowded. Joe didn’t workout with me he ended up getting a major headache and was just exhausted so he stayed home and slept while I went. I don’t think he’s quite used to working out yet, he’ll get there though.
I was able to have a total badass workout. I got to do my 5 min warmup on an elliptical. Then I went upstairs and got started on legs. Here’s what I did:
leg press 3×12x50
smith squats 3×12x50
smith lunges 3×12x10
seated calf raise 1×12x45 2×12x25 I almost made a fool of myself on this, 45lbs was too heavy for me and I couldn’t lift the weight back up to get it on the brace. So I just laid it down like I knew what I was doing and got up and lowered the weight. Apparently my calves are weak.
I was gonna do kickbacks but the machine didn’t have a attachment for feet =[
leg curl 3×12x40
leg ext. 3×12x30 this has always been a weak spot for me because of my funny knees, I wanna work on this.
abductor 1×12x50 1×12x85 1×12x100
standing calf raise 2×12x45 1×12x30 again having trouble with the calf machines, I couldn’t get the damn knob to adjust on this one for my height and the dude before me was quite a bit shorter, so I just sucked it up and did it.
adductor 1×12x40 1×12x70 1×12x85
ab machine crunches 12
ab machine side crunches 12 each side just wasn’t feeling this machine
roman chair leg raises ha, these are really hard 2×8 1×6 you gotta start somewhere
toe touch crunches w/medicine ball 2×20x4
Then I went and did 20 min on the elliptical. There is never a treadmill open in this place! It’s driving me crazy, but at least I didn’t have to do the bike. I did intervals on the crossramp elliptical, it wasn’t that hard, but I was sweating and after such a great leg workout I only wanted some light cardio. Tonight I plan on doing longer cardio, hopefully a treadmill will be open! (fingers crossed)

Well last night was the first night at the gym. It was crazy busy. I got a good workout but I’m so used to being able to go all out and there I wasn’t able to. Mainly because I was getting a feel for where everything was and you can’t always go to the machine you want right away, which is no big deal really. The worst thing was the cardio machines. They simply do not have enough for the amount of people they have. We weren’t able to do a 5 min warmup because every machine was taken upstairs and down. So we just got right to work. After weights we did cardio, the only machines that were open side by side were two bikes. I learned last night how much I hate the bike, I’d much rather run my ass off. So tonight instead of trying to do cardio side by side (unless there’s machines open) we’re going to split up on whatever we can find. Hopefully we can get a 5 min warmup in. I wish they had a track at this gym, oh well. So here’s what I did. I don’t remember all of the weights. Tonight, I’m going to bring my blackberry in and will input numbers so I can remember.
Chest/Bi’s/Shoulders/Legs
chest press 3×12x20
flyes 3×12x 10-20 ?
shoulder press 2×12x10 1×8x10
lateral raise 1×12x10 1×12x15 1×12x10
bicep curls 3×12x20
db curls 3×12x10 free weights are harder
adductor 1×12x40 2×12x55
leg press 1×12x105 1×12x70 1×12x55 (when I sat down on this machine I thought the lock was on because I couldn’t budge it, then I just realized the weight was heavier than I thought, lol I hate being a newbie)
cardio: 20 min on the bike, this was a complete joke, barely even broke a sweat.
I think that was a pretty good workout for our first night. I’m glad I had a POA instead of wondering around with no direction. Joe did more shoulder machines, because that is his main focus. We saw a guy there from his work, so that was cool. I’m hoping tonight won’t be as crowded. Tonight is leg night, I’ll be kicking some butt. (mine)

I took George for two walks this weekend. One was more of a jog, I kind of had to drag him along while I was jogging. I guess he only has two speeds slow trot and mach 3. It was fun though getting outside. We’re joinging a gym. We went and looked at it yesterday and I’m totally pumped. They are having a great deal right now if you prepay, so thank God for my bonus and taxes. I’m soooo excited to finally join a gym. It’s been a long time coming, but now the timing and money are right. I can’t wait to try all the weight machines, I’m soo tired of dumbbells. I’ve been feeling much thinner lately and I lost another lb. this week so things are going good. I’m 5 lbs. away from my goal for March 29. I’m really hoping to blow it out of the water with my new gym routine.
Today I ran intervals. I’ll probably still do cardio in the morning, this way I won’t be at the gym all night. I’ll use it mostly for weights. Joe is joining too, he really needs to stregthen his shoulder more after two dislocations and we always want to be in better shape.
Today was:
300.7 cal/ 30 min/ 2.334 miles/ max 6.4

So far so good this week. Totally kick ass workout. I’m exhausted already and the week has just begun.
5 min warm up
lateral raise 3×12x10
super set of flyes and db press 3×12x10
super set of curls and hammer curls 3×12x10
super set of overhead press and arnold press 3×12x10
super set of closed squats, open squats, plie squats 3×12x10
those 10lbs totally kicked my butt, I was struggling with the last reps of the last sets, I’m happy about this because I pushed myself
Then I ran intervals: extremely hard too, the incline just kills me, I really need to work on incline running. I’m fine with a jog on incline but sprints are too hard by the time the first 10 min was over I kept having to drop the incline to 0 just to get through the sprints.
353.4 cal/ 2.535 miles/ 30 min/ max 7.2
m1: 1 slice multi grain toast, natural pb
m2: TLC granola bar
m3: mozzarela, tomato and basil sandwich, 2 dolmas, peach tea all from whole foods
m4: fruit salad
m5: beef stronganof, salad, bread and I can’t believe it’s not butter
