Fainting from squats? Errr….

Okay yesterday was my all-time worst work-out, which completely peeves me since legs are my favorite day! I guess I was actually sick on Monday (&yesterday, apparently).
I did about 20 min. of cardio, with intentions to do another 40 after weights. I wanted to hit the weights, because the competitive builders at my gym usually also do legs on Tues. night. I like to finish ahead of them, so I’m not in their way.
Anyway, I get four sets of leg presses in, then start on squats. By the end of the third set, I can feel my heart pounding on both sides of my neck. Then I start seeing spots. I walked carefully to the locker room and ended up spending some quality time with the carpet. It was like I couldn’t blow my breath out. I could breathe in, I just couldn’t release. I wanted to throw up like nobody’s business, but I couldn’t get out of the floor. The whole thing lasted about ten or fifteen minutes, I think. I don’t think I ever went out cold, but I’m not really sure.
My friend brought me some bottled water, and was wanting to drive me home or whatever.
I got to the car, with a serious amount of shaking. By the time I drove half way home I was fine. And mad. I missed over half my workout, and felt fine a few minutes later.
What gives?
So far, this has been a terrible week for working out.
My husband has made me promise not to do any kind of weight training until I talk to my doctor. I think the doctor is going to think I’m crazy. Why call her? I’m fine now.
Anyways…. there’s my daily rant.
On the positive side, I’m wearing a pair of slacks today that haven’t fit in AGES. LOL
Hope everyone’s having a great day.
If anyone reads this who has also fainted, please give me a clue if you know what’s going on!

You’ve got to be careful with squats. They use so much muscle at once, they are as much cardio as weights (like doing sprints). You may want to try doing them before cardio or leg presses. Keep up the hard work it’ll pay off.

Yet another reason to not do Cardio before weights….Your muscles are tired from the cardio so you won’t be able to put as much effort into lifting the weights. I’m willing to bet you were dehydrated….As davis said….I would always do squats before leg press. Squats is more of a core exercise and it’s always recommended to work on your core exercises….Then you can move to your focused exercises like the leg Press. Also….was this a Linear legg press where you’re reclined or one that your sitting parralel to the floor?

    Congrats on the slacks ;c)

    Sitting parralel to the floor.

    Thanks about the slacks, though!

if i may ask, what had you eaten (or not eaten) prior to training? not sure if this is a contributing factor to the fainting, but it’s always a possibility :) this exact thing happened to a friend of mine, first day with her trainer. turns out she hadnt eaten for several hours prior to training legs. and many, many congrats to the slacks.. that’s always a wonderful feeling, and shows that despite the bad workout, you’re doing many things right.. keep it up, hun! :)

Hadn’t eaten most of the day, (Having sooo much trouble with diet, training rocks, but hate thinking about food all of the time) but I did have a protein bar and an Adrenalyn Stack drink on the way to the gym. (the were handy)

Meal prep! prep 5 nutitious meals for the day dont starve yourself you if you do that your thyriod will signall your body to start storing fat

Remember to stay hydrated through the day. Generally, on my leg days, I consume twice as much water to stave off dehydration. Also, be mindful of when you eat. The feeling that you felt has come to me a time or two, mostly if I had eaten within 2 hours of my leg workout. Food does not taste well twice.
