Half-marathon done - two more to go!
Wednesday, January 28th, 2009Hi everyone! I completed the half-marathon this past Sunday and it was such a blast… I need like a laugh-track but of people cheering me on during my regular runs because they make such a difference!! j/k I ran it in 2:09… I kinda wish I ran more aggressively around mile 4-10, because I had a lot of energy left in the end! But, lesson learned… my next one is in April and after that in August in order to complete all three for the "Triple Crown" medal. Yay!
In the meantime, I’m focusing on weights until mid-March (when I’ll start up with the distance again). I’m going to keep my running base and still probably run a Saturday 10-12 miler every 3 weeks or so, with a few runs during the week. But, I know my arms and core could be leaner and stronger so I can be more efficient when it comes to running, so I’m gonna focus on that, too! I’m contemplating on doing my friend’s routine where she works on each body part once a week and does 3 sets, but of 25-30 reps. All I know is that I’m totally re-focused and pumped to get my body in better shape!
I think a lot of this, too, had to do with a lot of ‘mental’ housekeeping. I think it finally "clicked" that in order to get rid of D and all the sadness/depression from it, I had to fully get rid of him - on email, texts, letters, etc. He still texts from time to time, but I don’t answer back and honestly - I’ve felt so liberated from it! And ever since, I’ve been reaching out to friends and family more (i.e., the people that have nothin’ but love for me!), and it’s just made me a happier and more motivated person. It’s been awesome! So ever since, my weight dropped back, I’ve enjoyed my job more, and I’ve enjoyed life more. Very cool!
Ha, and yes (to answer the PM’s - love it!) - I’ve enjoyed dating more (instead of rebounding). There’s currently a few that have been so incredibly kind, and I’m having a good time with it.
Anyway, I hope you are all doing just as well - if not more so! Train hard, my friends!
