Half-marathon done - two more to go!

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Hi everyone!  I completed the half-marathon this past Sunday and it was such a blast… I need like a laugh-track but of people cheering me on during my regular runs because they make such a difference!! j/k  I ran it in 2:09… I kinda wish I ran more aggressively around mile 4-10, because I had a lot of energy left in the end!  But, lesson learned… my next one is in April and after that in August in order to complete all three for the "Triple Crown" medal.  Yay!

In the meantime, I’m focusing on weights until mid-March (when I’ll start up with the distance again).  I’m going to keep my running base and still probably run a Saturday 10-12 miler every 3 weeks or so, with a few runs during the week.  But, I know my arms and core could be leaner and stronger so I can be more efficient when it comes to running, so I’m gonna focus on that, too!  I’m contemplating on doing my friend’s routine where she works on each body part once a week and does 3 sets, but of 25-30 reps.  All I know is that I’m totally re-focused and pumped to get my body in better shape!

I think a lot of this, too, had to do with a lot of ‘mental’ housekeeping.  I think it finally "clicked" that in order to get rid of D and all the sadness/depression from it, I had to fully get rid of him - on email, texts, letters, etc.  He still texts from time to time, but I don’t answer back and honestly - I’ve felt so liberated from it!  And ever since, I’ve been reaching out to friends and family more (i.e., the people that have nothin’ but love for me!), and it’s just made me a happier and more motivated person.  It’s been awesome!  So ever since, my weight dropped back, I’ve enjoyed my job more, and I’ve enjoyed life more.  Very cool! :)

Ha, and yes (to answer the PM’s - love it!) - I’ve enjoyed dating more (instead of rebounding).  There’s currently a few that have been so incredibly kind, and I’m having a good time with it. :)

Anyway, I hope you are all doing just as well - if not more so!  Train hard, my friends!

Happy Belated New Years!

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Hiya peeps - did I really not greet you a Happy New Years??  Well, since I’m part Chinese, I must be on Chinese New Year Standard Time… yeeeeaaahhh… that’s it! :)

First off, a HUGE shout-out to bull.dogz and gemini-jedi for making it on the bodyspace calendar!!  And thank you, the ever lovable NB for starting the Circle group so us homies can keep in better touch with each other! :)

Anyway, nothing too much going on with me.  I went skiing over the holidays which was a blast, but did nothing for the cause running-wise and lifting-wise.  I’m still running the half-marathon in a week and a half, but probably very slow since my 12-miler last Saturday was less than stellar.  But, I’ll at least finish because I’d really like to complete the Triple Crown (3 half-marathons in S.D.) this year!

After the half, I’m going to pick up on weight training a bit more.  My diet is a lot cleaner and I’ve lost a few pounds, which is super good for my joints.  I’m planning to get leaner before my next half-marathon training in mid-March.

I most definitely have to catch up with your blogs soon, but I hope everyone’s 2009 is off to a fantastic start!  Sorry for being a little MIA on here, but I’ve admittedly discovered FaceBook (I know, right, five thousand years later… I don’t know why I avoided that place for so long, I’ve reconnected with friends from college, high school, and even junior high!  It’s fantastic!) and have admittedly spent most of my internet time there.  BUT!  You guys are most definitely not forgotten, and I will read and cheer you on soon!  Love you bunches! :)
