It’s my birthday tomorrow

September 26, 2009

I started running this morning. My calves are burning! The run was easy, but my legs gave out after a couple of miles. Now I can’t walk. I can’t wait til tomorrow. I’ll do it again. I don’t know why, but I keep waking up early and wanting to go for a jog. Crazy, huh. I had to suspend my membership at the boxing club because of economic hardship, so I only work out by myself right now. I’m trying to find some guys to spar with til I can get back in to it, but nobody wants to fight. I got the roomates to do it once. They never did it again. Pansies.

Poop!

August 11, 2009

I have’nt been feelin’ so good lately. I’m not sure I’m getting sick, but I’m tired all the time. Maybe I’m depressed. I took a vitamin, that helped a little.

Papa’s got a brand new bag!

June 4, 2009

I’ve changed everything about my fitness program. I do a lot of cardio, and calisthenics. My body responds much better to this type of exercise. I feel better and look better. I don’t worry about the loss of strength at the top end. My hits are getting hella hard! The bottom line is; if you want to hit hard and fast, You’ve got to hit hard and fast. There’s no better way to do that than on the heavy bag.

Bill Starrs 5×5

March 15, 2009

I’m starting a new program on monday since I have’nt been making any progress in my current program. Well, thats not entirely true. I’m always making gains, but I’m never satisfied. I like the 5×5 progam because it calls for regular weight increases as wel as a method for making gains after you top off in any exercise. I have also discovered Oatmeal shakes which I drink 3x/day. I gained 5lbs last week!

supplements

February 6, 2009

I feel like I’ve hit the ceiling in my workouts. I’m still making gains but they’re slow and my weights go up and down on a couple of exercises. So I’ve started using some supplements. I’m using Celltech and Nitrotech. I’ve used Muscletech supplements before and I liked the results. It should go real well as long as I continue to eat like I want to be big.

Great gains!

January 26, 2009

I’ve been on my program now, consistently, for a little while and I’m making real progress! I would definitely recommend the workouts that are outlined in this website to anyone interested in bodybuilding. Especially those people who don’t have access to personal trainers and nutritionists and stuff. After I picked my program and got started I took a good hard look at what it was and how it was set up. I like the way that one workout overlaps with the one before it without working the same muscle group directly, twice in a row. I went through a weird period when I would make gains in one exercise but not in another, but it’s all starting to balance out now. I’m still not gaining any weight, but the stronger I get, the less important it seems to be real big. I hope to continue making gains, without hitting the ceiling, for the rest of the year. Wish me luck!

Magical fruit

January 15, 2009

I’ve been trying to get every thing I need from whole foods. I’m so light weight that I need all the food I can get. However, its to find foods that are high in protein that don’t make you fart. I’m trying to get a wide variety of proteins to get the most out of my recovery. I eat a lot of beans, milk, eggs, and cheese. Also, Chicken and Tuna. Let me just say; I fart a lot. It makes me wonder what the big boys did in the days before protein powders. Did we just always know that bodybuilders were a gassy bunch? Its crazy, I’m always burping and farting. Its not just that stuff. All types of healthy foods do this! The healthier you eat, the worse it gets. I guess this is where supplements are so important. I try not to use them. I’m not a scientist. What weight lifter really knows what that stuff really does. They all say the same thing. It’s not steroids! Is there really anything in these super expensive non-foods that I can’t just get from eating? I doubt it.

Progress?

January 11, 2009

Ever since I brought a bench into the house my weights are getting heavier and heavier. This is great! I really am getting stronger every time I work out! It’s amazing how important one exercise can be. It’s incredibly motivating to be hitting the heavy weights again. You don’t catch me skipping days anymore. I hope to bench 3 bills before my next birthday. But, I continue to lose weight! WTF! My goal was to get up to 170! Getting stronger is great, but what I really wanted was to get BIG! I’ve started the eating journal and it seems like I should be making progress towards my goal. Well, I guess I can’t have it both ways.

New program!

December 30, 2008

I got a bench this morning, for the house! Best thing I’ve done for my program in a long time. I’ve got new stats for my max bench and I feel great!I’m really concentrating on being disciplined about my eating and working out timing. I don’t know how many people have told me that consistency is the key. They were soooooooooo right! The results just keep coming and coming!

Dips!

December 17, 2008

I discovered the other day that I can do dips on my wife’s walker! I also discovered that I can do a hand stand on it, which was amazing considering how drunk I was. Dips are awesome for overall upper body strength, and I’ve been pretty disappointed so far that I haven’t been able to do them. One of my favorite workouts is alternating pull-ups and dips in super sets. I want to get one of those harnesses that attach weights to your butt for extra resistance. I like the walker so much as exercise equipment that I’ll probably buy one when the hospital finally takes theirs back. It’s so lightweight and portable! I can use it in any room in the house! I can do dips in front of the T.V. like an exercise bike for my upper body! Plus it’s not the kind of equipment my daughter is likely to hurt herself on, which is why I haven’t been working out lately.
