Last nights workout with the trainer was absolutely KILLER! First off, I went into it exhausted, it was my 3rd 10 hour day this week and I was plum pooped. I cheated on dinner and had a quick grilled cheese sandwich, so that wasn’t the greatest either. I did a half hour of pretty intense cardio and then met with the trainer.
First excercise:
Leg presses (decline)3×30 @135# (3 positions:normal press position for 10, toes pointed outward/heels in for 10, and legs/knees together for 10) I didn’t think I was going to finish, but i made it…..my legs were really shaking!
Side leg lifts using the cable machine 3×12 @15# each side
Incline fly’s 12# 3×15
Close grip underhand lat pulldowns 3×12 @65lbs
Combination shoulder presses/arm lifts, 3 different positions, this one is hard to explain and even harder to do with a 12# weight in each hand!
then superset tricep pressdowns/bicep curls using the cable machine, 3×12 @35# each excercise.
I feel it in my arms today!
Tonight is another round of kickboxing…..Oh Joy!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh I feel my body today……I did legs yesterday, and they were still sore when I went to kickboxing class tonight. Now they are REALLY sore, kicks and squats and jumping jacks and skipping, and my quads are alive with the sound of music lol. We did some killer upper body work in class tonight to, I can feel it in my shoulders already. It was a really good class, and a great workout.
Tomorrow is my session with the trainer, which will be a full body workout. I’m looking forward to it.

I had a great leg workout today. I love doing legs, and can really push myself, I love the burn!
I went for a job and some skipping today with my sister in law. It was her first workout. Well 1st real workout, she used to go to curves, but I’m not sure if that counts as a workout. We started out skipping, I suggested we try a light hop for 30 secs, she said…..oh no, I can skip for at least 3 minutes……well……..she made it 45 sec and I thought she was going to hyperventalate. She jogged about a quarter of the track with me and had to stop and walk. All in all I think she did great for a first time out, I do think she was surprised at how out of shape she is, but I am glad we went easy for her first time because I don’t want her to be so sore tomorrow that she gives up entirely. I am helping her to loose some weight so she can join the gym (her theory, not mine….I don’t even pretend to understand it)

I had a great upper body workout yesterday. Did it really slow and steady, but with heavier weights that I am used to. I really felt the burn when I was done and it was awesome!
Today I just went for a run, did a few laps around the track at the highschool and did about 30 mins of skipping. I like bringing my skipping rope with me to the track and skipping there because the asphalt has some give to it, so it is easier on my achilles tendon which is still healing. When I got home I did a core/abs workout with the stability ball and called it a day……Tomorrow is LEG DAY!

Last nights workout with my trainer was a killer. She pushed me hard on my leg workout, squat kicks holding 12lb weights 20×4. then today I had kickboxing class and had to do 2 rounds of squat kicks (no weights) for 2 mins nonstop. I think my thighs would leave home if they could.

Its been a good week so far. I took monday as a day off, tuesday I had my kickboxing class. Today I had my session with a trainer which went really well. I am starting to see improvement in my balance and my core. My back is really sore from yesterday’s class. We did interval training and I think 2 mins of pushups really did me in. Its a good sore though. Tomorrow is another kickboxing class (interval training again).
I started a detox this week as well. This my 2nd time doing it (last time was 6 months ago) and I am finding it much easier this time. I am doing the 7 day cleanse and keeping my diet really clean. I am hoping this will help kick me off the weight loss plateau i’ve been on.

I have to take a about a week or so off from running while my achilles tendon heals. I have a grade 2 injury, which is likely from my recent attempts at running uphill. I have been trying other forms of cardio such as skipping (keeping on the ball of my feet only….not the heel) and roller blading, as well as using the elliptical (which I usually hate). I find it frustrating that I can’t run, but I have channeled that frustration by learning some new techniques with the ball that I can focus on practising to take my mind off running. Some of the things I am practising are: Balancing on my hands and knees on the ball, doing clap push ups with my legs balancing on the ball. and doing torso twists on the ball. I love the challenge and my abs are really feeling it.

I haven’t made a post in here for a few days, because I haven’t really done anything noteworthy. I turn 40 today and really felt my age this week. Starting on sunday, I was just plum tired and really not getting a good workout. On monday I did an upper body workout but reached muscle failure far too quickly……like way quicker than I should have (ex: preacher curls with 30lbs…I could only manage 5 reps before I literally couldn’t finish the curl on the 6th).
On tuesday I went to my kickboxing class, but it kicked my ass. I was weak, couldn’t do the pushups, was winded while doing jacks……just plain couldn’t do it….I felt like I was back in my first class.
My trainer teaches the class and she told me to take wednesday off and up my calorie intake. It had been over a week since my last day off and my calories were at about 1200. So I took wednesday off and am trying to up my calorie intake to 1500, thats up 300, 100 of which will be carbs.
After having a day off I went back to kickboxing today and was back in my groove! I finally had a good workout, so I guess I did need the day off.
I am taking a skipping class tomorrow morning, so we will see how that goes.

I’ve taken the day off from weights today as I am starting on my new schedule this week. For today I just did a 20 min jog, and 20 mins of skipping. My legs are tired from the skipping, whoever thought skipping was for little girls should give it a try!
The weeks schedule is going to go like this….
Monday Upper Body
Tuesday Kickboxing
Wednesday Full Body with trainer
Thursday kickboxing
Friday legs
Weekends I will take off from lifting and just do cardio.

Its been a few days since my last post, so I figure I’d better update this. I started kick boxing this week, tuesdays and thursdays. The classes are killer, I don’t think I’ve ever skipped so much in my life (cumulatively). Its all good though, and the class in general is much easier this time around. I still feel very weak and unco-ordinated while I am in the class. I get a great body buzz when the class is done, but during the class I just feel so inadequate and like I don’t belong. I am certainly not the most out of shape in the class, and I can keep up and all…..so I don’t know why I feel this way, but I do. I guess maybe I figured it would get easier with time, but then if the class got too easy, why would I take it right?
Sometimes I feel like I should give up……I try to stay positive and keep motivated, but it just hasn’t been easy lately
