And so the journey continues…
Wednesday, June 17th, 2009… my progress is already showing. Only half-arsed workout since I started on the 1st of June, and today’s felt particularly productive. I find that rather than rushing through and trying to get as many reps as quickly like I see so many at the gym doing, I’m doing my 8 to 15 reps methodically, and, watching myself in the mirror to make sure, I’m doing them well too. Bodybuilding books are great, and these wee videos here of people doing the exercises in correct form is a godsend. Personally I think the trainers at the gym would rather us all be doing circuit training and using as few machines as possible, then get the hell out. Pity. Talk about a half-arsed attitude…
The scale shows no mercy, but the sewing tape applauds my efforts with a few lost inches. That’s always good, eh? I think these cable/rope crunches are working really quickly on my abs (I never concentrated too much on them before). In three weeks moving only about three pounds down in weight has me a little concerned - not sure how much is normal for the first bit of loss. From the profiles I’ve been reading, the first few weeks showed dramatic results for some people. I must say, that my triceps are showing dramatic results already, but I still look wistfully at those ’skinny’ jeans and hope.
Tomorrow is a ‘heavy’ - legs are part of this workout regimen only once a week (a little different for me) and I’m dubious about the efficiency of that. Maybe some of you can set my mind at ease that way? I’m quite sure that I’ll have tuckered myself out, but I really want that pretty shape, never having had great legs, and my instincts tell me that once a week may not be enough.
I defer to the wisdom of those who’ve gone before…. your thoughts?
