LA Boxing - 1st Experience

So today the Army crew went to LA Boxing for some cross training.  It was intense and MMA focused.  The recruiting station commander is a pro MMA fighter and he put us through our paces.  We split into two groups and then went through the workouts.

I started in the boxing group and did a ton of bag work and pushups and burpees.  Burpees suck!  When I was done I felt like my arms were about to fall off.  After everything we did non stop squats, it was 30 minutes hell.

After that our group moved to the ring for our MMA work.  We started with sprawls and arm bar submissions out of the full guard.  I am a big MMA fan but have never ever done this **** before…I felt like a virgin.  Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a science and the pros make it look soooo easy but it’s not, but over time I guess it become second nature.  After we got our quick indoctrination we started grappling.  Grappling is intense full body cardio that will rock your world!

I grappled with two dudes, the first was a battle and he has experience with BJJ.  After we battled for about 5 minutes he caught me in a choke and I had to tap out.  Damn!  So then the next dude was 25 lbs heavier than me so I was more motivated.  I caught him after about 3 minutes in a rear naked choke, locked it in deep with my hooks in and he tapped fast.  Felt great.  I got submitted and I got my first submission.  Fun times.

After the MMA portion we were all dripping from sweat and then headed to the mats for a 10 minute ab workout.  Man, killer.  It was one exercise after another into another with no rest.  Loved it, I just wish Eye of the Tiger or Welcome to the Jungle woulda been playing in the background!

So after the workout they asked if I wanted to join, I said I’m broke cause I’m unemployed.  With us being military they cut us a deal that I couldn’t pass up.  It was filty cheap and let’s just say…I signed up!  I now belong to 24 hr and LA Boxing and also go to LA Fitness with the Army crew.

I’m very pumped to be adding this type of training to my resume and think that my fitness levels will continue to shoot through the roof.  With the proper diet, which I have, and discipline I’m going to get leaner and leaner!  BRING IT!
