Take that Risk!

Okay… So I guess it’s blog time right? lol! Or at least that is what I’ve been told. ;-) I do need to do a much better job of writing on here. The typing does wonders for my dedication. I seriously think about how much of a disappointment I would be if I didn’t reach at least a FEW of my goals after doing all this talking (or typing..). So here is the next installment in Brian’s (also know as Open Mike..) blog spot. Hopefully, you enjoy!

This year will be a year of many challenges for me. I feel like I’ve reached a point in my life where I’ve decided I can do SO much more than I am doing right now. I feel like I can put much more effort into learning and growing my mind, I believe I can put more effort into building a more impressive physique, I know that I can put much more effort into my music, I feel that I can have a more vested interest in the community and be more involved, I feel like I have many more opportunities to impact people and set a great example for youth who might aspire to be where I am someday.. basically MORE, MORE, MORE! I have no idea where this desire comes from, but upon further review, I’m pretty sure it’s a combination of the following:
1. I desire to see my God given potential realized and exceeded…
2. A understanding that "real" living is consistently doing something challenging and succeeding at it…
3. Craziness…

So with all of these things in mind, I have set out to do a few things this year  that I have wanted to do, but have put off doing for a long time (these being in edition to my resolutions.. God help me!). I can’t share all of them (not necessarily because I CAN’T, it’d just take a lot of typing!), but I know that all of these added responsibilities are going to bring some unforeseen difficulties into my life. Lack of sleep, lack of a personal life, lack of free time, lack of travel time, and a lack of me time (or cave time as we men so affectionately call it).. just to name a few. It’s quite scary!

But thankfully, I have some things in my repertoire to hold onto that give me encouragement. Hopefully, they’ll do the same for you! The first one is something my brother use to always say.. the second is one of my song lyrics. Have at it! ;-)
1. "High Risk equals High Reward.."

I’m certain you’ve heard this before. But for some reason, the only time I began to apply this to other areas of my life, is when my brother told me that he used this same thought process when he was debating a VERY long distance relationship with his now wife to whom he is VERY HAPPILY married and who gave me the cutest niece ever on the planet! (Trust me.. I’d challenge anyone on their cute niece picture game. I’d win!).

2. "They say the reward is usually equal to the risk that you took, that’s why sometimes you have to leap before you look…"

I know you’ve heard it said, "Look before you leap.." Keep in mind that sometimes you may just have to do the opposite thing…

Here’s a bonus one for the road. Easily the best of the three. I’ll let you find this one on your own. Holla back and God bless!
