Actuallyyyyy,…… this is a myth! The American Heart Association recommends that one third of the fat intake comes from saturated fat! That means the AMA is actually RECOMMENDED taking saturated fat. And the American heart Association has ALWAYS recommended having SOME saturated fat.
It IS true that too much saturated fat is bad for the body, yet the idea that ALL saturated fat is bad for the body is blatantly untrue. The body needs saturated fat for a variety of processes, including growth!
From the web site News letter, “Jigsaw Health”, it says,
“Although they have received a bad rap, Sally Fallon and Mary Enig, PhD, of the Weston A. Price Foundation, have been leading the charge to systematically and scientifically reveal the importance of saturated fats. In a study entitled, ?The Skinny on Fats,? they cite the following:
Saturated fatty acids constitute at least 50% of the cell membranes. They give cells their necessary stiffness and integrity.
Saturated fats play a vital role in the health of bones. For calcium to be effectively incorporated into the skeletal structure, at least 50% of dietary fats should be saturated.
Saturated fats lower lipoprotein (a) ? A substance in the blood that indicates proneness to heart disease.
Saturated fats protect the liver from alcohol and other toxins.
Saturated fats enhance the immune system.
Saturated fats are needed for the proper utilization of essential fatty acids. Specifically, omega-3 essential fatty acids are better retained in the tissue when the diet is rich in saturated fats.3″ http://www.jigsawhealth.com/articles…rated_fat.html

THOUGHTS.
Friends, I have never been sooo excited about getting ready for a competition. It was so great to compete at M Nationals and receive so much encouragement and praise. The main compliment I would get is, “You have amazing symmetry! You have the best condtioning in your class.”
I looked at myself long and hard this year after my two comps. I could see that all I need to do is put on 10 more quality pounds and I will make my mark next year at M Nats for sure. I think my trainer, conditioning coach, and posing coach are more excited then I! I’m so blessed to have these men behind me! It truly is humbling to have them believing in me and supporting me as they do!
I have great friends in the sport that have encouraged and supported me when I really needed that extra push!
Mostly tho, Judy, my precious sweetheart for 31 years has always been there with unreal patience and support. I truly have no idea how she puts up with it?! Yet, thank God she does!
50 weeks, of hard, consistent, intense training! Quality diet! It’s doable! I know it! I feel it! I have never felt so sure and so committed!
So, I start this new journal with a commitment, I know I can make! I know I can do it! It’s more then a belief! It’s more then trying! I know it will happen, because I already have created it in my head. I have caught the vision! ed
This year at the Oregon was great! kudo’s to Dre Scott for putting on a great efficient competition! I easily won the Grandmasters again and moved on to the Masters Overall. I was a little concerned with it as the "T REX flew in from San Fran to compete and he took the 40 yr old Masters class easily and the Novice Heavy Weight and Novice Overall easily too. When went into the Masters Overall I could see he is bigger, younger by almost 15 yrs, yet not that much bigger and I had the conditioning tight and dry. I think that carried me to the winners circle! It was a great way to go out and my trainers and coaches have retired me from Ammeter comps and Nationals is the focal point of my sports carrier now. Claiming that elusive Pro Card is the only goal!
