I had to skimp on my workout today. I didn’t want to, but I had no choice. You see, I have epilepsy and I had a seizure on Sunday afternoon, so my body wasn’t ready for a hard workout. Hell, having a seizure is a great workout in itself!! You should feel how sore every muscle in my body is, for days, after having one. So I didn’t do squats today cause I decided that I was gonna cut down to squatting twice a week, one heavy day and one speed day, ala westside. I did do my bench presses today though. Hit 140 for 3 sets of 5, which is 5 lbs. heavier than last bench day. I did skip the set of deadlifts, just cause I didn’t think I had it in me to do them. We’ll be back to normal on Wednesday though!!

Well here’s the workout for today: squats 115 3×5, military press 70 3×5, power cleans 95 5×3. Squat weights going up. Getting hard but I still manage my 3 sets of 5. I know I’ll be able to handle at least 75 on my next military press workout. I’m still sticking with 95 for the power cleans. The form is getting better but it’s still not great. So much to try to remember in such a quick pull. I think I’m gonna start making Wednesday a light squat day. 3x a week, heavy, is too much for me. Well that’s it for today. Two days of rest coming. How wonderful!!!!

Well today was my third workout. Here’s how it went: squats 3×5 105, bench press 3×5 135, deadlifts 1×5 145. Squats were good, but tough. Really struggled with the benches today. Didn’t know if I was gonna get that 5th rep on the second and especially 3rd set. I did though. Deadlifts were a breeze. I think I’ll add 20 lbs. to the deadlift next time, 5 lbs. to the bench and 10 lbs. to the squat. I’m wondering if squatting 3x a week is too much for someone my age. Maybe make Wed. a light squat day. I messaged Kethnaab and asked him for his opinion. Hopefully he gets back to me. All in all it’s going really good. I love this workout and the new strength I’m noticing.

Well, seeing as how today was monday, it was my second workout. Felt like crap all day. Just general depression and too much on my mind. So I was a little worried how the workout would go. Once I got into my second set of squats I started feeling better and getting into it. Not a bad workout, all in all. Here’s what I did:
Squats 3×5 95lbs.
Military press 3×5 60lbs.
Power cleans 5×3 95lbs.
I upped the weight on the squats 10 lbs. from last workout. Felt pretty good. I noticed I can do better when I really concentrate on trying to explode up from the bottom. I love the power cleans. I may stick with that weight for a few workouts just to make sure I got my form down. I used to work out at a gym that was owned by an old olympic lifter, so I did get coaching in those lifts. So that was today. Can’t wait till wednesday!!!!

Well it’s been about 24 hours since my first real workout. My thighs and hamstrings are so sore. Not really feeling any pain in my chest or back. My traps are kinda sore though. Mild muscle pain in my lower back. I can really only feel any pain in my chest if I push on the muscle. Like I said though, I think the deadlifts were too light, so we’ll up them on monday and see what happens. Squats are gonna be brutal if this pain doesn’t get better by then. HA HA!!

Did my first Rippetoe workout today. Hit 3×5 on the squats with 85lbs. Man, my legs are weak. On my behalf though I did do ATG squats. Hit 3×5 on the benches with 125. Hit 3×5 on the deadlifts with 125. It was a good weight for squats and bench presses. I think it was a little too light on the deadlifts. I’ll probably add 15 or 20lbs. to them next workout.
