10 Weeks Out

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

Another good week and good 4th of July.  My lats, chest and legs are popping out more and more.

I was doing my chest workout on Saturday and I had my first aftershock adrenaline rush.  I was doing my frist set of flat bench barbell bench at 215 and it felt a little weird.  I thought "Don’t know if this weight increase was wise".  Got to my last set of 245 and pushed as hard as I could and got it up 6 times on my 4th set.  That’s when it hit.  When I was getting up I uncontrollably started flexing and grunting in a wild manner.  Probably a weird seen to outside veiwer but suprisingly it felt really good.  Slowly but surely I am getting to where I want to be.  I just keep reminding myself its going to take time; I have to be patient but persistant and determined.

I’ve also adjusted and refined my diet a little.  Here is a typical day:

Multi-vitamins, lipo 6 and joint healer

Cardio - 30 - 40 minutes, followed by 2 scoops of whey, 1/2 cup of oatmeal, and 5 grams of glutamine

22 oz. of chicken, 3/4 cups of brown rice, and 5 grams of glutamine(at one time) spread throughout 4 meals during the day

2 scoops of whey, 5 grams of glutamine, 7 grams of creatine, lipo 6 and joint healer pre-workout

Weight lifting with 45 mintues of cardio followed by 2 scoops of whey, 5 grams of glutamine, and 7 grams of creatine

2 scoops of casein and 10 grams of carbs(vegies) before bed

11 Weeks Out

Friday, June 27th, 2008

I have increased my weights and my cardio now for the past 2 weeks and I am still between 198 and 200; what the F.  Guess its time to up the cardio some more.  I also have been practicing my posing almost everyday, getting more comfortable with the mandatory poses.  Still haven’t decided on what music I am doin my routine to.  I’m thinking more instrumental, something simliar to a song from the movie "300" or something like that.

This month has been rough.  Every weekend I’ve had to go somewhere or do something, All I want to do is relax and stop putting myself in front of shit that makes me want to cheat.  I haven’t cheated but putting myself in situations that tempt me does not help whatsoever.  I have one wedding to go to at the end of July, but thats it, other than that its going to be sitting at home, refining/adjusting my diet, practicing poses, and hitting the weights hard.  I still need to work on my arms, chest and legs; and of course the impossible ring of fat around my lower abs, so annoying.  I know it takes time but I want to be ready at least 2 weeks before competition so I concentrate on the technique rather than look.

Hope everyone else who is working on their goals is going well.  Have a good weekend.

12 Weeks Out

Friday, June 20th, 2008

Another solid week of workouts and I have kept to my diet.  Last week I weighed 199 and this entire week I have stayed at 200.  I am still seeing results but my weight hasn’t gone down.  I also started morning cardio this week, it’s not as bad as I thought.  I still think I can be/get bigger, so I have decided to start taking creatine and add L-glutamine as well.  I’ll start taking both next week for the rest of my training.  I keep looking at contest pictures and see how cut and big some guys are and I can’t imagine myself being in the condition they are in.  I want to be in the right condition at least a week or two before the competition, so I keep researching and figuring out ways I can expedite the way I look.  But I also have to remember to be patient.  Looking at the summer in weeks and counting weeks down is bit stressfull.  I want to look and be ready, I want to be comparble, and I really want to place.  We’ll see how things go this week.

13 Weeks Out

Friday, June 13th, 2008

Another great week worth of workouts, and another week of sticking to my diet.  One challenge I’ve come across is staying(getting) bigger and losing the fat.  I’ve upped my protein intake and kept my carbs the same.  So far I have been doing 45 min of cardio after weight training and on rest days but I’m starting 2-a-days next week: 30 min cardio in the AM and weights and 30 more mins of cardio in the PM to help speed up losing the fat.  I’m glad I started training 15 weeks out so I have time to make and test adjustments like this.  I will be competition ready.

14 Weeks Out

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

During the week is fine but this was the first weekend since I can remember that I have not drank any alcohol whatsoever.  I stuck to my diet and feel pretty damn good.  A couple things that I thought about that might make it harder to keep to my diet are that I am moving to a job site in the next month and a lot of the time my bosses like to go out to lunch; I don’t want to keep telling them "no I don’t want to go" so I have to, at some point, tell them.  I don’t know anyone else in the company who does this sort of thing, which makes it uneasy to inform them of my new "fitness program" so I’m just gonna go ahead and throw it at’em.  The other is that my girlfriend’s parents own a winery and she’s been really busy with work and school so I go and visit her at work.  It’s a little challenging to pass up a glass of wine here and there.  I think "its only a glass, whats the harm?" But I sustain and I am clean as a whistle, not a drip.  One thing that I love, is waking up on the weekend sober as can be.  I certainly do not miss the hungover headaches and daytmime naps followed by a greasy, fatty, recovery meal so close to bedtime.  I also feel that I have more energy to get more of the necessary things done that I need to.  I am also saving money for more important things that I would need or want to buy.  The pros definitely out-weigh the cons with this new hobbie of mine.

15 weeks out

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

First day of training.  Competition is 15 weeks away and I’m feeling terrible from the weekend.  And my co-workers ordered five guys for lunch.  I didn’t have any but it sucked watching them eat it.  I’ve never competed before so this summer should be interesting to experience.
