macronutrients
OK maybe someone out there can help me decide something about carbs/protien/fat ratios. typically during the off season i hold a 50/30/20 ratio of carb/pro/fats-or try to at least. i do a lot of running to stay lean and around 3-5lbs over contest weight-since ive been dieting down for this show (and w more weigh than normal to drop, thanks to a 6lb weight gain after surgery!!)i have been keeping about an even 33/33/33 ratio-my goal has been a 40/40/20 split-i know in the past i really didnt keep track of it that much but i usually kept my carbs and protiens about the same for each day ie if i had 120 carbs i had about 100-130g protien….does anyone know if the extra fat i am getting will hurt me for an impending show in 5 wks-so far i am seeing results w the even ratios..my fat sources come from natural peanutbutter, 93% lean ground turkey, protien bars/shakes and the occasional egg yolk in my egg whites….i am confused about it-dont know if i should up the carbs a bit and cut the fat back, or just keep doing the same stuff i have been…???a typical meal plan for me is as follows:
meal #1: 3-4 egg whites with 1/3c oatmeal, sometimes w about 1 tbsp natural peanut butter
meal 2# pure protien bar or a shake (made w water now, not milk)
meal# 3: 4-6 oz lean meat (turkey or chicken) w a sweet potato
snack: 2 rice cakes w 1 tbsp natural peanut butter OR same as meal #3(depending on workout)
meal 5: 4-6 oz lean meat with steamed veggies
if i am still hungry later in the night i have a protien shake or another protien bar..
all of this comes out to be about 1200-1400 kcals with about 100-120g protien and but with about 40-50g of fat…i am hoping my intense cardio sessions and plyo workouts burn that fat up…i really dont know if i am obsessing over this too much or not-all i know is that i want to look my best ever on stage in 5 wks and 3 days……and what i dont know is if i should just stay on track with what is working or try to play with it and see what happens?????????
if anyone has suggestions on what i can change to help cut back the fat or just help doing the ratio thing, or just about getting lean SOON-plz let me know!!!!

From what I read, I thought that the healthy fats actually help you burn fat, that you need them to digest your carbs. I will be curious to see what people say. hmmm…Sorry I am no help.
