The Great Supplement Debate!!!!

To Supp? or not to Supp is the question! Well this topic has been a on going battle for a long time here on Bodybuilding.com and in the bodybuilding world in general. How effective are Supplements? Will you become more muscular using them? Or do Supplements cause harm to the body? Now for those of you that know me…. know that I love to use Supplements. If it’s out there I want to try it! Supplements also keep lifting interesting to me. I get excited to see what a product will do for me…. or to me when I order one. Now do I think you have to use Supplements to bodybuild? NOPE! I think you can do a lot with just using the proper nutrition and working out. OKay lets face it…. this is not the 1950’s anymore! Welcome to 2008 folks…. a time when everything is about speed and ease. Now I dont care how many Supplements you take…. with out busting your ass in the Gym…. your not going to get any where. Just because the lable said that it makes lean Muscle Mass… does not mean it will happen without exercise. Okay back to the point I was making about it being 2008! I know I for one do not have the time…. to eat 6 perfect meals a day. I dont have the time to cook (plus I really dont like to cook that much…. love to grill though) so with work…. 3 boys , Rental Properties, Yard and pool up keep, Training clients….. and working out myself…. I pretty much eat on the run! So to me it only makes since to use Supplements. If I only have time to eat 3x’s a day and I can make up what I’m missing with the help of a quick and easy shake! OKay how many times have you skipped a workout because you were to tired? Dont Lie…. you know you have done it…lol Well I dont really have that problem anymore. I use N.O Products to give me energy boost… Caffiene pills…. I also will use Power trip. I will take what ever I need to…. to get the GO going to pump the Iron. I know some people will say Supplements are not safe. They cause so many harmful side effects. Okay maybe thats true in some cases…. but that dont mean it’s the norm. Hell everyone that smokes does not get cancer….. and everyone that drinks… dont die of liver failure. I’m pretty sure we will all die of something…. I just want to be a Freak when I go….lol What was it like 10 years ago…. Eggs were going to kill you if you ate them?….lol There will always be someone out to find a negative in a positive! I dont beileve the hype either way till I try it. Yes some of the supplements I have tried… just dont do a thing for me…. but I have heard other people say they work great for them. Thats why I say you have to try it to see if it works for you…. everyone is different. Here is another thing I think about! Bodybuilding.com Gives a great site…. with a ton of information…. Bodyspace (great people and support) and what do they charge us? Yeah thats right…nothing! Well how do they do this? The sale of Supplements! I buy all my Supplements from Bodybuilding.com…. are they always the cheapest? Not always….. but I believe in a thing called loyality! When you buy from Bodybuilding.com… that only enhances what they will offer back down the road! Look at the US economy… yep major slump! Well here is a ideal…. keep buying things made over sea’s and keep putting US citizens out of jobs! Okay short of steroids…. I’m looking for any help I can get to grow! Hell if the prison factor was not one of the outcomes possible from using Steroids… I would try them. It comes down to this! TO EACH THEIR OWN!! Do what you feel is right for you…. but dont knock me for doing what I feel is right for me! Let your body do the talking…. Show use what a Supplement free body looks like. Now from a Supplement users stand point… I look at it like this (just my own thoughts here) If your scared to use Supplements just admit it! Dont knock them ….. because you dont have the balls to use them. Most likley they would not work for you any ways. Like I said…. you still have to Wrestle the Iron hard. THE MORE IRON YOU THROW….. THE MORE YOU GROW!!! And most likley you spend more time reading the crap written to down play Supplements…. than you spend in the Gym! Oh and Yes Protien powder is a Supplement…. so dont try to pick and choose whats a Supplement and whats not! Till then Keep on Keepin!

I’m a supplement whore too! Now, there are sooo many sups out there that I haven’t tried (yet), but a month rarely passes by without some online sups-shopping going on in this house…
Can I give any truly positive feedback on any of the sups I’ve tried? No, not really! Was it a waste of money? Who knows! Maybe I would have been even more girlish if I hadn’t taken any sups LOL
Real Men Masturbate - or how does that one go…?

"Now I dont care how many Supplements you take…. with out busting your ass in the Gym…. your not going to get any where."
Truer words.
Any supp I take is viewed primarily as an insurance policy - you pay for it but you hope you never have to collect. I just trust it’s doing its job.
BB.com gets my business, but it’s normally protein bars and a protein powder.
I have order other items. Most recently the Hydroxycut from MuscleTech. They’re sponsoring a contest and that’s been a lot of fun.
It’s difficult to say whether that supp works, however as there are a lot of variables - I’m throwing that weight in the gym, I’m watching my food intake, I haven’t been drinking (empty calories), I’ve been doing cardio… so how do you separate what is helping and what is not.
Great Blog, Bill.
Wishing you continued success!
