Calorie Intake
How important is it to get enough calories and yet under a certain amount? My Dr. said to loose weight to maintain a 1600 cal. per day limit but 1400 would be to little. I am eating clean and working my ass off and guess what - for the last week I can't seem to consume enough! I've been av. about 800 to 1,000 a day max! I get full a lot faster on the good foods than the bad ones and do not get hungry as often. (I am eating every two to three hours. Is this real bad? HELP!!!
Its very important to get the right caloric intake... 800 is DEFINITELY too low.. you really dont want to dip below 1200 ... You can make small tweeks to your diet plan to help you get up to at least 1400....
How many times a day are you eating? you may need to put in another snack earlier in the day or in the evening to help get you to the calorie count you want
i am becoming more and more convinced that doctors have no flippin idea what they're talking about. i swear, they think because they have one area of expertise, they know them all. i would have to say that if you are not exercising at all, 1600 would be enough to lose weight. if you ARE exercising, you NEED more than that to be able to retain your muscle development. i don't know how in tuned you are to the whole "women with muscles" thing, but it's becoming more and more evident that SCALES DO NOT MATTER!!!! it's all about bodyfat percentage. i have seen many women on here above 160 that have very nicelly developed bodies. it's all about perspective. sorry, i got off on a tangent....
Are you weighing your food and tracking your caloric intake using fitday or calorieking or some other method? If your not its going to be hard to know exactly how many calories your truly eating. If you go too far below your maintenance calories your going to fool your body into thinking its starving. When your body thinks its starving it goes into starvation mode and stores all the calories you are eating for future use. I like to eat so I up my cardio and not lower my calories.
I agree with ernyo on the scale thing. I hate the scale...u can't trust it. As far as calories...I REFUSE to count calories!! That would be like being in jail. Personally, I go by small portion sizes every 3 hours with equal amounts of protein, carbs, and a little added fat. Like a steak, baked potatoe, with real butter. Works for me. Stay away from processed foods as much as possible. Stick to God food...you know...stuff that grows naturally that man hasn't revised. Like a STEAK, BAKED POTATOE, and BUTTER. Street_Dog mentioned fitday.com If you absolutley think you need to count calories...I would check them out.
I will have to agree with Iron_Princess that smart food choices is all you really need! I agree God Food is Good;) You only need to track cals for a few days to weeks before you have a system down and know what proper portion sizes. What dose 4oz of Chicken look like? Ist 32g protein. Its just another tool to help.
