Jan 18 - Jan 24

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

I am not going to lie. I did not exercise this week. I did try to eat better. Unfortunately I gained two pounds and a half inch on my waist. So I am back to 222 and 45.5 inches. I am writing a schedule for this week with a heavy concentration on cardio and core training. I don’t have access to much for weights so right now I am going to work with the few dumbbells I do have but work on reducing my waist. As far as my weight goes, I don’t mind being around 220 so much. I just don’t want it to be with so much body fat. If I could put all those pounds where they belong, with minimal body fat and good tone, I wouldn’t really be so concerned about my actual weight. I do like at least being in the 200 range and don’t really want to fall below that. So for the rest of this month and next month I am going to concentrate on strengthening my core and dropping body fat. I am looking forward to posting progress pictures at the end of February and need to get serious so they will be decent. OK, until next week, I hope everyone continues on their goals. Have a good week everyone and thank you to anyone who is keeping up with my blog. It gives me accountability to not always have a bad report. One more thing, I picked up a book called The Clean Eating Diet. I am reading that right now and will be working on switching to a better eating lifestyle through that information.

Jan 11 - Jan 17

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

OK, this week I did not do any exercising. I did however have a very physical week at work. Not that is enough but this week I am going to create a schedule to make it easier to make sure I do something. That was a suggestion from my good friend Francisco. I like lists and schedules, I get more done that way. It’s easier to see where you are falling short when you have a paper in your face proving it. I tend to want to do it more when it is written down.

I maintained my weight of 220 this week so I did not lose any thing. I did, however, get rid of another half inch on my waist. It is now down to 45 inches. Not much improvement but at this stage I will take what I can get.

This week was really more of a concentration on my eating habits. So moving forward I know a little more about what to eat and what not to eat.

All right, I am going to sign off so I can go get my schedule put together for the week. I will talk to you all later and thanks for checking in on me. It helps keep me accountable.

Jan 4 - Jan 10

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

Jan 4th I did 20 minutes of moderate biking around the neighborhood with my wife and kids. It wasn’t hardcore riding but I worked up a little bit of a sweat. Jan 10 I did 2 sets of crunches 20 reps each. I did 2 sets of pushups - 1 set of 15 and 1 set of 10. The next 3 exercises were done with 25 pound dumbbells. 2 sets of bicep curls 10 reps each. 2 sets shrugs 20 reps each and 2 sets side bends 15 reps each. The rest of the week I was cutting marble tile. I was lifting boxes of the tile to the table. They were probable 20 pounds or so, then I cut them. Sometimes I would be sanding the edges and then walking them over to the wash station. I was walking back and forth as quickly as possible to keep a sweat going. I also would pick up 10 of the cut pieces in each hand and either do curls or shoulder raises until I got them over to the packing station. Doesn’t sound like much but this was for six hours straight. Saturday the 10th I did the cutting for 8 hours straight cutting, lifting and stacking over 1000 pieces. Over all I netted a 1.5 pound loss and a half inch loss on my waist. Not bad for a week. Definitely changes I can sustain for a long time. I am also concentrating on eating healthier smaller meals through the day. Well I will update you some more next week. Thanks for checking in on me. I hope you all do well on your goals.

Jan 1 - Jan 3

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

My first week. Jan 2nd I did a 3 mile walk/jog. Then I did one set of push ups using Perfect Pushup. It was one set of 15 push ups. I also did two sets of crunches, one of 15 and one of 10. So far my first week has already covered my goal of doing more than last January. I am excited to see how much more I can blow it away. Talk to you next week.

I’m Back

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

I went ahead and used my starting pictures from last year because I went back to my old ways. I am 221.5 pounds with a 46 inch waist. There were too many circumstances that I allowed to get in my way, one of which was an almost broken nose and then the doctor discovered a severe sinus infection while checking to see if my nose was broken. Yes these are just excuses but they did allow me to see that I am a bit lazy to do anything extra and I am definitely undisciplined in getting into shape. This year is no excuses. I will update my pictures every two months. So March will be updated pictures. I will also attempt to blog a weekly schedule of my exercises. The program I tried last year was too involved for me at this time and set me up to feel like I failed. That gave me an excuse to give up. This year I am concentrating on just doing more each month then I did the same month last year. Let’s see how that works. I’ll talk to you all later and I hope you are all well.
