Food for thought - zero calories

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

A long time ago I saw a program by T.D. Jakes. It was called "Forever Victim, I don’t think so". It talks about how everyone loves to blame everyone and everything else for their problems. We need to stand up, as individuals and as a society, and take full responsibility for our own lives. I once heard that it is not our environment that makes us who we are. It is our reaction to our environment that does it. Sorry, I forget where I heard that or I would give them full credit. The point is, if you learned to over eat to comfort yourself after hardship, the hardship did not make you overweight. Your over eating made you that way. The bad news in all of this is that you only have yourself to blame. The good news in all of this is that you only have yourself to blame. If you made you that way, you can create a new you. Step one, look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself, "I did this I can undo this". Step two, repeat step one until you reach your new you. If you are out of shape or over weight my mother tells you this. You did not get that way overnight, you will not fix it in a day. We both know you can do it. Take responsibility for you. I’ll be there if you want to talk. If you are in great shape, congratulations. Now give the rest of us a hand. Reach out and encourage someone. I seem to be getting a lot of that and this community seems to be very good about that. It makes a bigger difference than you will ever know when you reach out and lift someone up with a good word. You may go about your day and not even remember doing it but those of us you lift up will always remember it. Most people have been knocked down and they always remember it. We need to replace those memories with lifting up. Good luck to everyone trying to better themselves. Just remember if you mess up one day don’t let it mess up the rest of your days. Dust yourself off and start a new day tomorrow. Thank you to all of you who have encouraged me so far. I look forward to showing you the progress you have helped me make very soon.

Wake up call.

Monday, July 21st, 2008

This picture was taken at Caladesi Island in Florida. I was at my heaviest of 235. I dropped down to 205 after surgery for sleep apnea because I couldn’t eat anything but beef buillion. Now I have blown back up to 234. That is what gave me my wake up call. So the other pictures on here are at 227.5. Currently I am down to 226. I am commited to getting down to 200 or maybe 190. As long as everything is in it’s correct place I would be happy with 200. I cannot wait until I can put up some progress pictures. I really can’t wait until I can go back to Caladesi Island and take my ultimate goal picture. I just ordered some Lipo 6 and am hoping that will help jump start my program. Weight and fat loss is the main goal right now.

Good news and bad news.

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

I do not have any progress pictures this month. So far I am down to 226 lbs. and a waist of 46.5 inches. This has been a rough month. I needed a car, work is slowing down so I need to find a new job. So unfortunately my progress this month has been extremely little. Now I am not making excuses because I take full blame. I know for a fact with everything going on I could have done better. I am setting a goal for the end of August to be down to 220 lbs. and a 45 inch waist. This way you all can keep me accountable to my goals and I can set goals that are currently attainable. Thanks for everyone’s support and great comments so far. I hope to be a help to those around me and be an inspiration to some in the future. Thank you very much to those who accept a friendship from me. I am truly on here only to support and be supported in my journey to a healthier lifestyle.

Now you can see.

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

Now you can see where I am at and I have a lot of work ahead of me. Good thing hard work never scared me. My first and foremost goal is to get my 48" waist down to 40". That is not my complete goal just a first step. So far I am down to 225 and 46.5". I am on my way and can’t wait to meet my first goal. Keep in touch and you will soon see some progress pictures. I do have a picture of me at the beach I am going to try to get on here. You can tell how out of shape I am in that better. I’ll post when that is up. Thanks for not laughing too much.

My basic goals

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Right now I weigh 227.5 pounds. I am looking to get to 190, possibly 200. At that point I can reassess and decide if I want to slim down more or bulk up a little. I don’t want to bulk up now because I need to tone what I have and lose my gut. I have never had a six pack and I want to work on that. My home scale says I am at 32 percent body fat. However, I went to a 5K run with my kids and the hospital that sponsered it had people to help find out what your body fat was. They had a hand held unit and it said that I had 21 percent body fat and the guy running it said that it was a more accurate reading than my home one. But right now I have to go off my home scale. Either way my body fat and gut are my two main goals. I will get some before pictures up soon and finish my measurements. I am not trying to change too much of my other measurements right now just tone up. So here’s to getting in shape.

Setting up and setting goals

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Hi anyone who would read this. I am new to this forum and I just found out about it in Maximum Fitness magazine. I will be updating my current measurements in the next couple of days. I am 45 and out of shape. My dream has always been to be a Personal trainer. So believe it or not I am working on my fitness and getting information about getting certified. I believe it would be extremely rewarding to live a completely healthy life and help others do the same. Currently I lay tile for a living and it is not so great. I look forward to meeting a lot of you and learning. Hopefully I will someday be in the position to motivate and teach others.
