lower back pain

Last night  it was SO cold-I could actually see my breath! (this is southern california-it just doesn’t get that cold!) and hubby didn’t go to the gym just so he could come home and work out with me. It was too cold and I’m still not ready to face going to the gym-too self conscious-so we decided to do some karate after I promised him he’d be sore the next day. I was very pleasantly surprised that I still remembered how to run a class basically. I keep reminding myself that yeah-I got out of shape-but I did this for 7 years consistantly and the knowledge is still there and the muscle memory is still there! We warmed up with some leg movements and slow kicks and then stretched for a good ten minutes. It felt really good! We worked on kicks and punches and 1 point sparring. I think that I actually might have a bruise or two-woo hoo! I can DO THIS!!!!! I broke a serious sweat and felt good. It doesn’t seem quite as scary going to class next week now.

Okay-then I woke up this morning….ow! My lower back hurts-feels super tight-feels like I need to stretch it and I’ve been stretching all morning. HURTS! I’m trying to decide if it is good pain or bad pain… Anyway, regardless-it will be fine just as long as I keep moving and keep stretching. I feel GOOD! And I feel like maybe..just maybe…there is some light at the end of the tunnel and I’m starting to really believe that I can do this.

Could be overstretched. That happened to me a bunch. I would stretch and strech and end up overstretching so that my body would be angry with me. Just an idea.

Could be over stretched or over worked from the sparring with your hubby. So keep up with it and it will get better, I can understand about not wanting to go to the gym but don’t be afraid or ashamed nobody started their quest in top physical shape they had to work at it so go ahead and go with your husband and journey together and then spar at home so you do 2 workouts a day. Good luck , Oh yeah saw the progress photo you are doing good keep it up.

Over stretching? Isn’t that like having too many shoes? Or too many power tools?? Hmmm…I was thinking that I needed to stretch even more… I actually think the pain is simply because my core is not strong enough…but yes Mr. Fab-my body is definitely angry at me LOL! And Rich, I know and hear you about the gym…but I’m not there yet. When I do get the courage to go, you will hear my "WOO HOO!" all the way over in Iraq my friend! And that will be a major milestone for me-just cannot do it yet. I have what amounts to basically a panic attack just thinking about it…

My back use to always hurt after fight class to the point where I point Tiger Balm patches on BEFORE I sparred. Finally after going consistently for a month or so it went away.

Like your new pic, I see you’re coming along.

totally coming along..i know you will do it like bryan G says we all started out somewhere…
in this process. It does get easier and your hubby is right along side you that makes it twice as nice…will be watching your progress in 2008 and rooting you on.
