I have started the third week of recovery for my knee surgery and I am telling you what, this SUCKS! I am tired of hobbling around like a 90 year old man on crutches. I am tired of being so incompetent that I can not even make my own plate of dinner. Most importantly, I am tired of not being able to train. Those of you who have been through similar surgeries know exactly what I am talking about. It is simply amazing how quickly my left leg has atrophied. It looks like the leg of a corpse. One bright side is the right leg, due to carrying all 230 lbs of me around is swollen, vascular, and shredded. This doesn’t do much good when the other one looks like a dead piece of rotting flesh. I start the physical therapy tomorrow and I told him to beat the **** out of me to rehab it as quick as possible. We will see how it goes.

Well, I now have a daughter. Jaila Nicole born at 8:25 am on 11/17/08. This is my third child, but first girl. I am very nervous. I know how to take care of boys, just wrestle and play ball, and they are happy. What do I do with a girl? How am I going to deal with boyfriends in what will seem like next week? At least I have two boys first, they will be trained from this day forward to always overprotect their baby sister. Oh well, I guess this comes with the territory. I am very happy and proud of my wife for the carrying and delivering our beautiful baby girl and proud of the two of us for what we have created. She is absolutely PERFECT!

I have a problem with the industry of bodybuilding. Everyone complains about this being a sport where very little money can be made and a bodybuilder is a poor, broke, sorry soul. We can all sympathize with this (except for the doctors, lawyers, and gifted genetic freaks.) My problem is that every type of supplement is ridiculously over-priced and so is the equipment and clothing. One cannot spend less than $100 for supplements that will last a mere 30 days. And that is on the low side. I just navigated to a website that features clothing suited for bodybuilders and there were t-shirts that ranged up to $100 and $200 for some jeans. Are you kidding me!? How can this go on? I understand that business is business, being an MBA, but there is such thing as price gouging and taking advantage of the consumer. This is all stuff that we are told month in and month out that we need, but when we follow the words of our beloved pros and authors, we find that we are unable to afford it. I am very disappointed with the so-called bodybuilding enthusiasts that take care of us through all of their research and design. To me it is no different than the oil companies.

Well, I am now officially 30. I think I may have over reacted to this B-day. I don’t feel any older. The number is a little daunting, but no difference in my abilities and condition since a couple of days ago. My coach and older lifting buddies encouraged me by saying that there is still a lot of growth to be made and now my muscles are maturing. Oh well, I guess it is apart of life, we all do it and we need to accept it.

OH NO!!!!! I am on my last day of my 20s. Tomorrow I turn 30. Everyone is telling me that 30 isn’t old yet, but it is no longer young! I still felt young being in my 20s (even if it was 29). Now that there is a 3 at the beginning, I think I am getting old. I am having an early midlife crisis. It seems hard to just see it as a number and that I am getting better, not older; more mature and experienced not out of date. I guess I have no choice, just go with father time on the journey and hope that it is a good one.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but it is the most difficult thing in the world to come out of a show, know you need to bulk up, and keep it clean. I need to gain around 20-30 pounds, but I also need to stay lean. It is too easy to cheat knowing I need to gain wieght. I am starting to get a little bit of a gut over the last month. I really should maintain the clean diet, but knowing my next comp isn’t until next year makes pizza and beer that much harder to avoid. Wish me luck and cheer me on to stay dedicated.

Well, I didn’t do as well as I had hoped in this last competition. I didn’t place among 7 other cometitors. I wasn’t happy with my overall physique though. I know I could have been much better. My abs were nowhere near where they were last year. I was 15 lbs. heavier though. I sacrificed to much definition to try to save size. Last year the judges said I was too small, so I came in heavier this year, but apparently at the expense of too much definition. Back to the drawing board. I am starting a more power based lifting routine for the summer to add some thickness to my legs, chest and back. Hopefully I can get up to about 245. I will take a little more time to cut for my next show and attempt to compete at 215-220 shredded (4%). It is going to be difficult for me to gain that much weight, but it will be worth it.

Well I am four weeks out from y second show. This is the OCB in Indy. I should be ready and I will be 20 pounds heavier than the show last year. I have studied the pics and video from m first show and figured out most of my flaws. I am more experienced and refined and should do even better at this show. Wish me luck and I will keep everyone posted.
