If I want to do better than before I am going to have to modify some of the training. The reps I feel good about. The run speed hurts. I have to switch some of the weight for some plyo and dynamic stretch stuff some band ansd speed work.

Signed on this weekend for my 5th trip to the Arnold P n R! My wife is going to do it as well. Try to crush all of my old numbers and take my training to a new level of pain. Speed hurts but man winning would be incredible. I know I have some huge barriers to go around, through, and under but what the heck….we only go around once. No regrets.

I would say that every workout I do is a test. I think it’s funny when someone tells me how hard a workout is. It’s like asking someone about a movie. How was it? Great ! You watch it and it sucks. Everyday I am in the gym or on the road running or on my bike….I go all out. I don’t just walk through my workouts. I mean I am sure this is the site where I am one in 2 that do this, but it just amazes me .What is the point of doing it if your not going to the limit of your ability. I believe you are limiting yourself if you live by that. The pain I endure is rewarded with great pleasure! Have a great Day!

Did a mountain bike race this weekend with my son. Talk about brutal but cool. No training just went and did it. It was one of the coolest things I’ve done very intense. I feared for my son he is only 12 and some of the 8 miles of course was brutally difficult…at least for a novice which we both are. Needless to say he did great and as I knew he would gut it out. My respect for my son went another notch higher. Good stuff. On to the next.

Good day the whole family ran away with something. I ran my second fastest time on this course at a few pounds heavier than normal but I was able to gut out a 19:08. I felt good at the end just a bit off during the race and although I tapered a bit….being just a bit haevier was definitely a bit tougher. Mentally and physically. I have definitely felt better at races but it was a good day, good friends and food. Hopefully next year I will be able to restore The Flying Hornet Pump and Run once again. I think I found a new race to jump on so I will keep you posted. Again not sure why I write this crap down but hopefully somebody ids reading this and feeling the same way> Good nite. The Pain Train is leaving the station.

I am tapering down carbing up a bit. The race is on Monday feeling better with each day of rest. At 185 a few pounds heavier I still feel fast I hope I can convert the energy into a new PR I think it is in me I jsut have to go beyond the pain step outside of myself and do what I know I can do.

Another day in the gym shoulder feelin better and better. Heavy triples of clean and presses. Light lateral work and some moderate arm work. Gonna race a 5k tonite. Try and get some rest today the dog gone race is at 7. That’s late for an old guy like myself. I’m not sure what the masters class range is exactely….in bodybuilding it used to be 40+ but some things don’t let you be a masters until 50? Don’t know. All I do know is that there are some cookers in my age bracket. Some think the older you get the easier it gets…I think it has gotten tougher. Us older guys are starting to get some of our training time back as our kids get older and all the sudden we start to challenge ourselves more and more. We want to find out if there is anything left in the tank.

Good train today felt strong. Shoulders and arms. Started doing clean and presses again…what an ass kicker but I love it. Also I don’t know about anyone else butĀ I love working my neck. It’s one of those things I went back to traioning after many years and man I just love ity. MakesĀ a V-neck t-shirt look a lot better. Any way off for some protien waffles and some eggs and hummus. Gotta love it. I am blessed.
