new years resolutions
January 1, 2008at the end of every year a big deal is made of new years resolutions. why? how many people actually stick to their resolutions? and of the resolutions made, how many actually have a chance to be met? i think many resolutions are just ridiculous; the person knows in the back of their mind it isn’t going to happen. people say "i am going to lose 20 lbs." or "i am going to improve my diet," but what they mean is "it would be nice to lose 20 lbs." and "it would be nice if i improved my diet." these people lack dedication. my problem with new years resolutions is that people make these big plans of improvement, but don’t stick to them; they don’t have the discipline and determination to fulfill their goals. it’s like a big joke. new years resolutions are just something that "everyone does, so i’m going to do it too." the funny thing is that most people think of themselves as "unique snowflakes" but fall into line with everyone else. they lack the confidence to go their own way. if you’re not going to keep your resolutions, don’t make them. you are lying to yourself.
