Today I went to see my nutritionist that I used to see 18 months ago to get a vitamin B12 injection (I need to get these since I have crohns I don’t absorb B12). She did a Bioimpedance analysis on me, which measure fat, hydration, muscle mass etc. Oh man, my body fat percentage is 45.93% yuck! Far out, hate to imagine what it was 7kg ago!! But bonus is that I have put on about 1kg of muscle since then, and have only really been weight training for the last 3 months so that is good.
My hydration levels are not very good, need to drink more water. But I am also holding 2 litres (which equatres to 2 kg) of excess water outside the cells (i.e. fluid retention!) which is a marker from inflammation which is not surprising since I have Crohns.
So my muscle mass is 2kg less than ideal, which is not too bad, but I am carrying 19.97kg excess fat, oh yuk! So I am going back in 6 weeks for a follow up, time to crank it up and also going to concentrate on doing more cardio, whilst eating clean and enough protein to maintain my muscle mass, so I can get rid of some of this excess fat!

Today my supplements arrived, and I had some L-Carnitine and some TR2 thermogenics prior to my cardio workout. Man, I don’t know if it was psychological or what, but I really cranked it up today! Did 30 mins running on the treadmill and 10 mins on the bike, all pretty high intensity - max HR 185bpm
Hope I can get to sleep tonight LOL

Well things have been a bit crazy, I have been studying for my exams which are in a week, and yesterday I was completely knackered all day. So decided to skip my workout. Tonight was study time again, so will get an early night and head to the gym in the morning tomorrow to do cardio. I ordered some supplements from reactiv.co.nz - some TR2’s and some L-Carnitine, hopefully they will arrive tomorrow.
I am heading to the nutritionist on Friday for a Bioimpedance analysis (works out fat/muscle/hydration levels and BMR) so that will be helpful, and I’ll have a starting point for future testing. Also getting a B12 injection (I don’t absorb B12 due to my crohns) so hopefully be feeling a bit more on top of it after Friday, just in time for my exam on tuesday, then its holiday time woot!

Today I did upper body and cardio. Upper body was a bit so-so today - I found I couldn’t concentrate that well and that really affected how heavy I could lift. I think I might cut out one of the exercises next session and concentrate on bench press, one arm dumbell rows, bicep curls and tricep extensions. I whacked my hand on a metal part of one of the benches when I was adjusting it today, man it hurt, my finger is very black and swollen now!
Cardio went ok, I downloaded a podcast for interval training today and used that on the bike and treadmill, it was really good! I don’t think I ate enough this morning as I got the shakes after I got off the treadmill. I am thinking of starting a supplement like N.O. Explode to see if this helps with my energy and concentration levels. Might need to do some reading - anyone else use this or recommend anything?
Cardio tomorrow, then legs on Monday - legs are my favourite, deadlifts yeah!
