Week 3

May 11, 2008

After three weeks I have to say I’m happy with getting back into the groove of things.  Ending weight for Week #3 is 202.0 lbs., so I’ve lost 8.2 lbs. in the past three weeks.  My finger is healing pretty well.  I use a strap on my right hand to make sure I can hold the weight that I’m using.  I didn’t miss a single day of workouts this week and even upped the cardio I’m doing by 5 minutes per session.  Weight loss for this week was 2.6 pounds and I couldn’t be happier.  I’ve got another week and a half before I have to miss a couple of days of workouts for having to fly back home to be at a graduation.  My diet has been right at 95% perfect and I couldn’t be happier.  I have two cheat meals a week, on Wednesday and Sunday.  Today I had pizza for the first time in a month and I don’t plan on having it for another month from the way I feel from it.  I just feel so much better eating 6 meals every day.  I just hope to keep up with around 1.5 lbs a week loss for a few more weeks before I try to hit the weights a litter heavier.  Next week I’ll take some new pics to see the difference of 4 weeks of progress, hopefully it won’t be too bad.  Mind over matter, if you don’t mind then it doesn’t matter.

Week 2

May 4, 2008

After two weeks things seems to be going pretty well.  I’ve only missed one day of not going to the gym to do anything and meals are staying good.  I’d say the diet is right between 90% and 95% on the money.  Of course this is the biggest issue and my hunger is staying in check as long as I eat my 6 meals a day and have my workout shake too.  The total weight lost for this week was 1.8 lbs and I was a little surprised at that since I thought most of the first week’s weight loss was water.  Either way it adds up to 5.8 lbs in the last two weeks.  If I can stay around 1.5 lbs loss a week for the next couple of weeks I’ll be more than happy.  Mind over matter, if you don’t mind then it doesn’t matter.

Week 1

April 27, 2008

After my first week I feel better that I’m actually doing something everyday.  I haven’t eaten 100% to my plan but I’ve probably eaten close to 90% and that’s much better than I was doing before.  My knee feels good enough that I can now use an Elliptical to do some cardio.  My finger still hurts way too much to grip a heavy weight, so this week was just light full body workouts using a strap to help hold on to a weight in my right hand.  Hopefully that can change within the next couple of weeks.  The end result to my first weel was a loss of 3.8 pounds.  I’m sure 3 of that was probably water but for now I don’t care, it’s a change in the right direction.  I’ll have to see how the diet and workouts continue to go.  For now I’m just looking forward to continuing to make a positive change.  Mind over matter, if you don’t mind then it doesn’t matter.

Entering MuscleTech Challenge

April 20, 2008

I’ve decided to enter the MuscleTech Challenge.  I’ve had a tough year with several nagging injuries that have all but killed my desire to work out.  Last summer I hurt my foot, at first the doctors thought it was broken but it proved to be a severyly strained ligament in the bottom of my foot that I felt pop.  This caused me to go from crutches for several weeks to a walking boot for another month or so and it just never did properly heal.  It actually still hurts some.  Then I had a knee swell up huge from refereeing basketball games.  I’ve had two surgeries on this knee before so my first thought was my ACL.  I got it checked and it was just a severe strain and now it was a flare up of arthritis in the knee as well.  The latest injury has been a broken finger acquired at the school I teach at while breaking up around 15 students involved in a campus fight.  The break was bad enough that I had to have surgery the next week to have a pin put in the finger to put the bones back in place.  I actually banged the finger into a wall a couple of days after the surgery and found out from an x-ray two weeks later that I had pushed the metal pin all the way through the bone and had broken off a piece of the bone again.  You can see a white ball at the tip of my finger in some of the before photos, this is attached to the pin going into my finger.  All of these nagging things have all but killed my will to work out this past year.  So I’ve taken this challenge as a way to spark my interest into making myself hit the gym again.  Let’s see how this thing goes.
