17 weeks PREGNANT..AND STILL TAKING GOOD CARE OF MYSELF

IT DEFINITELY HAS BEEN A WHILE FOR ME BUT BEING PREGNANT I SAY IS A GREAT REASON!!..IM SO PROUD TO SAY THAT EVEN AMONGST THE CRAZIEST OF CRAVINGS AND WORST OF THE "MORNING SICKNESS", WHICH FOR ME WAS AN ALL DAY BATTLE, I HAVE STAYED HEALTHY AND FIT THROUGH OUT THIS PREGNANCY THUS FAR. THE LAST TIME I WEIGHED MYSELF WAS IN EARLY MAY AND I WAS AT 197, THIS WAS A FEW WEEKS BEFORE I FOUND OUT,THEN AT MY 10 WEEK CHECK UP I WEIGHED IN AT 198, THIS WAS EARLY JULY. NOW AT 17 WEEKS I AM AT 202 LBS, FOR HEAVIER WOMEN WATCHING YOUR WEIGHT IS SO ESSENTIAL DURING PREGNANCY, AND I AM SO HAPPY TO KNOW THAT I AM DOING SO WELL.IT SEEMS LIL BABY THUMPER IS TAKING ALL IT CAN GET FROM MOMMY’S BODY BUT THANK GOODNESS NOTHING FROM MY IRON OR CALCIUM LEVELS, GUESS ALL THAT PROTEIN CONSUMING AND MILK GUZZLING IS GOOD FOR SOMETHING!
ON A SIDE NOTE,I HAVE NOT BEEN IN THE GYM SINCE MAY DUE TO RESTRICTIONS SET BY MY OB/GYN NP & MD TO NOT DO ANY STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES FOR THE FIRST 3 MONTHS. IT WAS VERY HARD FOR ME, BEING SO ACTIVE, AND WANTING TO STAY FIT. NOW INTO MONTH FOUR I AM MORE ABLE TO GO ON LONGER WALKS AND ENJOY DOING SOME MENIAL CHORES AROUND THE HOUSE. AT FIRST, I RESENTED NOT BEING ABLE TO DO ANYTHING BUT SOON REALIZED THAT I SHOULD REVEL IN ALL THIS PAMPERING BECAUSE IN 6 MONTHS TIME I WILL BE PAMPERING A NEWBORN. I AM SO GRATEFUL TO MY HUSBAND FOR EVERYTHING HE HAS DONE AND PROVIDED FOR ME AND OUR LIL ONE.HE IS AN OUTSTANDING MAN AND WILL BE AN EVEN GREATER FATHER TO OUR CHILDREN.

SO ILL BE KEEPING EVERYONE UPDATED..WATCH OUT FOR BAY THUMPER U/S PICS (THATS BABY’S NICKNAME UNTIL WE KNOW WHAT IT WILL BE)..AFTER MISCARRYING OUR FIRST BABY EARLIER THIS YEAR, WE ALWAYS SAID THAT AS LONG AS WE SAW A HEARTBEAT(THUMP THUMP) WE KNEW OUR BABY WOULD BE CLOSER TO SAFETY…WE HAVE A HAD A FEW NAIL BITING MOMENTS BUT OUR LIL ONE SEEMS TO BE IMPERVIOUS TO ANYTHING!! SO TO MOTHERHOOD AND HEALTH MAY THEY GO HAND IN HAND ON A LONG PROSPEROUS JOURNEY….

Its been a while

I know its been awhile since I have been on..heck since Ive measured myself. However, I am glad to write that I have been sticking to my diet for the most part and watching my calorie intake. It just seems like as soon as the summer hits there is so many things to attend to. Between graduations,bbqs, weddings and god knows what else, it is nice to know that I know to control & limit myself. Sure its hard as many of you know, but at days end I know that I am so much better for it. As for working out, Ive been lucky enough to just get daily walks into my schedule.

Its not the gym but heck I know I am doing much better than I was doing last year at this point. I look at my progress since last year and am so proud of myself for what I have achieved so far. Sometimes whether in life or fitness, you feel so BLAH and stagnant, that you just don’t want to bother anymore. Well I believe that it is at this point in our lives that we must recognize all that we have done to reach this point and we get give up. Otherwise what else will their be to look forward to. We must always challenge ourselves because there is always something better out there.

Switching back

So we are going to Vegas in a few weeks for a convention my honey has to attended and I want to be in the best shape possible. Realistically, I know I wont be a Size 8 in three weeks but I do plan on losing another pants size within that time period. Progress on my weight loss is going well, no weight gain, some more muscle and I can fit in some smaller clothes.. so DOING GOOD! However for this particular goal, I have decide to go back to a low carb, high protein diet. Ive been on a low cal, moderate carb & protein diet for the past two weeks. Its time to go back to what works. That also means I will be doing more cardio and increasing my workouts to TWO a day..I figure I have the time and I want our first visit to Vegas together as legal adults to be memorable. Does anyone have any suggestions to places to dine at that wont completely sabotage our diets..I know it is Vegas after all but I have to be good a little bit!:)

Mother’s Day

I know that I am not a mom persay but I take care of my 17yr old brother in law and that in many people’s eyes is as good as a mother.I had a miscarriage a few months ago so this year makes Mother’s Day even more significant for me. The good Lord will bless me when it is the right time but until then, whether you are a mother to a child you gave birth to or one not your own..celebrate today!!On this lovely day where we all take a break from the workouts, hectic schedules,etc..lets all celebrate being a Mom. Lets celebrate anything CHOCOLATE AND SWEET, FLOWERS & GIFTS..and the simple joy of having our familys’ appreciate us. To everyone out there have a great and safe Mother’s day.

Its Cinco de Mayo

Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone!! I know its hard when we work so hard to stay on diets and exercise routines when holidays roll around but allow yur body a rare break..Thats what my husband & I are doing..nothing to extreme like bar hopping or diving into a tub of nachos but maybe a few beers or some wine (for me) and some guacamole..Hope everyone has a great weekend..stay safe & sober (as much as u can)..its full steam ahead tomorrow for us maybe Monday for others but remember enjoy what u do for yurself & yur body but a welcome break is always good for the soul.

Since the last time I wrote..I kinda fell of the diet for like a week but I kept on working out hard..my body just needed a lil break from the low carb thing however I decided that to reach my goals I needed to stay on the diet. So here I am moving along on my diet and loving every minute of it even more!:)Ive added more weight training to my workout schedule and its caused my muscle mass to increase DRAMATICALLY!!..I got muscles I never knew existed..LOL..I know it affects the scale but I have learned that the scale does not tell u how healthy u are..its just a number..true I must not completely disregard it but if I am losing inches, gaining muscle and fitting into smaller clothes than what do I care what the scale has to say!..I believe in what I see and what I do..

Lipo 6x & low carb

Yea u read it right..Lipo 6x & low carb diet!!!..Its been one of the most challening aspects of getting in shape so far..my husband(hpgilmore) got us started on it..and its going good so far..hard not eating whole wheat anything but hey the results are showing for themselves.The only thing that has bothered me is that with doing these 2 new things and seeing the results, I still dont see a dramatic weight change maybe just a few pounds.I know I have picked up a good 5 pounds in muscle these past few weeks but Im wondering what else I could do to drop the pounds. I want to drop another 10pounds by next month. Maybe I just neeed to keep chugging along and next week bam Ill be 5 pounds lighter..who knows!

Has anyone ever done a low carb diet and gone through something similar??. I work out atleast every other day and do 60 mins of hard cardio each time..some days more and of course full body weight routine..any advice..thanks

Atkin’s first timer

April 10, 2007

so my husband and I are to be a part of my aunt’s wedding (3 weeks away)..we have started ourselves on the Atkin’s diet..it doesnt seem too hard except for the moments when I look at the fruit bowl on the baker’s rack or all that nutritious and carb packed whole wheat pasta. I know that the induction phase is the toughest and u arent supposed to feel so energetic for the first few days but I think it will be good for us..I cant wait to lose more weight this month…I know there are many who have done this diet or are on it currently..so any advice for some first timers??.thanks..ill keep ya updated!:)
