Aggravation and fustration

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve been in the gym.  I developed bone spurs and have some issues with my quadiceps tendon in my knees.  Hopefully when I see the doc tomorrow we can come up with something to alleviate the pain (other than surgery). I haven’t been able to do any form of exercise becuase I have been able to do much walking. sitting for more that 30 minutes even causes discomfort.  I feel so lazy just laying around the house because thats the only position that doesn’t make my knees hurt.

Week #1

Friday, April 10th, 2009

Just finished the first week of my 12 week "get swole" routine. I’m really enjoying it. I’m doing more sets than I normally would nd I’m doing some exercises that I’ve never done.  With the increase in sets and reps I had to drop weight in some exercises but found I was able to add weight in a few others so I guess it all balances out.

New Workout

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

First, I wanna say congrats to me for sticking with a routine for 6 weeks and not jumping around the gym. I have noticed some nice strength gains and my clothes are fitting better. I figured that it is now time to change up my workout. I scured the internet and found a workout that I wanted to try a few months back but didnt think I had the discipline for it until now. Its a 12-week program that changes every 3 weeks. Think P90x but not a lot of cardio but serious weight training.  Its a 4 day-a-week program with wednesdays and weekends of. Im thinking that I might use wednesday as a cardio/ab day instead of being off making this a 5 day routine.  But at any rate. Im 2 days in and lovin’ it.  Cant wait to see the comparisons for each 3 week interval. Gotta get measured and photographed today so I can note what needs more work and how Im progressing.  Besides its time I updated my photos here anyway.

Just rambling

I never would have thought that my car breaking down would turn out to be such a good thing. When my car broke down in Dec 08′ all I could think about was how bad the timing was. It was Christmas week when the oil pump went out and I was on the highway. Definitely not a good thing to have no oil running through your car at 70+ mph.  Then my girlfriend was hit with the fitness bug. We had been planning on joining a gym and getting in shape for a while. We went to the gym near our house spoke with the guy in charge and had everything set to go, but as with most plans, something always got in the way and seemed to prevent us from ever going through with the memebership.  I thought the same thing was about to happen this time as we had talked about wanting to join the gym in Jan 09′, a few weeks before the car clunked out.  We just wanted to get through Christmas and New Year’s and then focus on getting in shape.  Towards the end of January, around the 19th - 20th) the conversation came up again and my girlfriend was really gung ho about it so we planned to head over to the same gym and talk to the guy we met with in May of 08′.  So monday, the 26th rolls around and we’re still talking about going to the gym. While we’re on the phone the guy from the gym calls to see what happened to us and to see if we were ready to join.  We were like you’ll never guess we were just talking about you. So, we joined the gym on the 27th and have been going 3 to 4 days a week.   I still don’t have my car fixed but I look at the 10 round trip walk to get to work and home a s a way of helping myself stay in shape.  I actually enjoy the walk now. In the morning it gets me ready for my work day and in the evening its my pre-warm up on my way to the gym.  The other good thing about the gym is that I have to pass it to go home so I never have an excuse for not going except for stormy weather. not really big on walking in the rain for anything or anybody.

Back in the gym

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

After starting to workout last year I got lazy.  The gym became too far from home to get to and my kickboxing partner moved away. This time around I am truly dedicated to getting back in shape. I joined a gym much much closer to the house (about a 15 minute walk literally).  I just completed my first week of working out and I have scheduled a meeting with the trainer to get on a solid workout routine rather that just jumping around the gym. I don’t really have bad eating habits in terms of what I eat just the times that I eat I think is the major problem. So I’m gonna work on eating earlier in the day and evening.
