OUCH! (@#!&!!!)

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Leg day will have to be postponed today, due to a morbidly obese pt and her scooter running over my foot! The pain is rather unpleasant, and it is starting to swell. Doesn’t seem broken, and all my little "piggies" still wiggle. *L* I still need to complete my shift, as I am the only acupuncture nurse on duty. I will instead hit back and bi’s, but I REALLY need to hit legs, and get some cardio in. I don’t have time for these setbacks! I’ve started hitting my chest twice per week, with some success, and changed up my volume. Going more with HIT and HIIT. Still going to get my abs in, today, as well.

Posing Confusion

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Saturday, I will be going to my first posing class. I have a rough idea of the mandatory poses, however, I have no clue as to what my individual routine should consist of. 90 seconds is both a very short and very long time. Are there poses that are definites or should I showcase my best poses? What kind of music? I’m not the most coordinated creature in existence (Does Frankenstein ring a bell?), do I need to "pop and lock", like Dexter and Darrem, and Melvin? Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

I Hate Potlucks at Work!

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

Everybody tries to put a guilt trip on you, saying you’re not part of the "team", you better eat some of my (insert food item) or I’ll be offended. When you work in a hospital clinic with a vast majority of the staff being obese, it’s hard to explain to them that you’re on a diet and training for a goal. They just don’t understand! Then, afterwards, they waddle back from the feed trough, and gripe that they’re fat, and ate too much! Well, I stuck to my guns, ate my tuna and nuts, and downed my protein shake. (Away from all of that) Especially since I’ve got my diet down pat!

However, my cardio seems to be a sticking point. I seem to be adapting to my present routine, and am now just staying even, and even gaining weight. Bodyfat is the same, but I think it’s time to change it up, or maybe hit some two-a-days for the cardio. 11 weeks is both a short and long time, to make the kinds of changes in my body to be competitive. But, my drive is stronger than ever, and I’ll nail it, yet! :)

Breaking out of the “Funk”.

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

The past week, I was feeling weak, tired, drained. Just basically, in a funk". So, last evening, I changed up the old I-Pod with some killer tunes, and attacked legs. Let’s just say, that walking today, is a bit of a chore, but every ache and burn is well worth it! I’ve spent the past week, focusing on all the negatives of late, and forgot to enjoy what is going on. HUGE mistake! Between hitting another year older, bitching about my diet, self-doubting myself, and basically attempts at self-sabotage it all began to snowball. But, now I’m back with a renewed spirit, and plan on beating my body into submission, and enjoying every step of the way! As far as the workout, typical high volume. 3 sets of 30, followed by one set of 100 for most exercises.

Been Feeling Tired and Weak.

Monday, May 21st, 2007

I’ve been staying at 100 Grams of carbs, 40 grams of fat, and 200 grams of protein per day for almost a month. And, my energy levels have dropped, and the amount of wieght I can lift seems to have gone down a little. I’m sure it’s just a mental block, but, it sure is annoying. I’ve been eating pretty much the same thing, day in, and day out. The only variations being what seasoning I put on my chicken breast or what flavor of protein shake. *L* But, I 100% dedicated to putting my best out on stage, come August.

If anyone has anysuggestions for bumping my energy level back up. I’d sure appreciate the input!

Love at First Bite.

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

Over the weekend, my wife got me a brand new grill. 28 burger capacity, 52,000 btu, 4-burner, Flame Master. That thing is awesome! It cooks evenly, starts up like a dream, and even has the side burner. I love grilling. Since I can’t hardly have sauces, I can at least season, and enjoy flame-broiled goodness! I got it Sunday, and have used it 5 times, already. It’s going to make pre-contest dieting a lot more tolerable!

Weird Cravings

Friday, May 11th, 2007

Since I’ve cut down to 100 grams of carbs or less, I’ve gotten some cravings that are unusual for me. I saw a brownie commercial last night, and I was practically drooling. What is odd about that, is that normally I don’t care for sweets. I’ll eat a few around christmas time, and that’s it. But, lately, that’s all that I seem to crave. Of course, I don’t give in. But to crave stuff I normally don’t even eat, to begin with. And, a final side note. cardio has now been pushed to daily.

I want a soft buttery roll!

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

As I’m writing this post, I’m being tormented by the scent of co-workers’ food, and the sight of a nice, soft, buttery, mouth-watery roll. I’m currently only taking in 100 grams of carbs, and no more than 40 grams of fat. And, at least 200-250 grams of protein per day. I’ve mostly been subsisting on Nitro-Tech and Iso-Pure shakes, tuna, chicken breasts, nuts, and if I’m a good boy, a Cherry Coke Zero.  What little carbs I do get, come in the form of rice, lettuce, or low-carb multi-grain tortillas. The good news, is that my abs are slowly re-appearing, after a very looonnnnggg hiatus. And, striations are visible on my delts.

I’m also trying to find out a good company to get a set of posing trunks and coloring (tanning) supplies from. Any ideas?

I’m also in the process of choosing my music for the posing routine. I’m leaning towards White Zombie’s "More Human Than Human". Twisted Sister’s "Stay Hungry" is another possibility, as it was dedicated to the one and only "Arnold".

I will continue my high volume approach to lifting, while adding in cardio, more and more, as needed.
