Killing Ourselves in the gym to Stay Alive??!!
Just the other day, I was speaking to an elder gentleman on how day in and day out we come into this house of iron and literally punish ourselves with intense, grueling, workouts, leaving us out of breath, tired and sore in the morning. This is a means to ensure our heart is being worked sufficiently, muscles being utilized to prevent atrophy and as a means for some of us to get bigger, stronger and leaner, while others want the "tone" and the tightness. But maybe it’s just me, but when I am in the gym, I go all out, to the point where my muscles are fatigued and knowlingly did a great workout. But, am I the only one tired of seeing the same people in the gym with NO gains, NO losses, just staying the same size ALL the time??!! I go there for a purpose, not to socialize, not to have camraderie, but to bust my buttons and to get to my designated goal, while others congregate on the machines, I am in need of and carry long conversations about nothing, do us a favor and MOVE to the lobby and talk, gym is for the ones who are killing themselves to stay alive!

I definitely am feeling this entry! If you aren’t going to push yourself in the gym, then why bother? I am not going to tell others how to life their lives, but I just don’t understand, why they go in to walk around and look at machines, or go on a treadmill at a snails pace, and get off after 3 minutes. I put 120% everytime I hit the gym. it takes hard work to get good results. you cant put in half effort and expect things to come, it just does not happen. keep up the hard work, and ill do the same!

AMEN!, I hate when people go to the gym and do this! What the point in going if you are going to do nothing!!!! You should work hard! My theory on wait lifting is "I may not be able to lift that weight but I am sure going to die trying, (using proper form of course).
I feel you man, and totally agree!

This is why I work out in my basement. It’s better for me to not be around other people. It’s just me down there with the bugs, rodents, and occasional monster escaping from the old well.

You can’t control the actions of others (too bad that would be so cool!) so they are going to do what they are going to do. But do it somewhere else! My partner and I, we talk. Hey you have to have some fun too, but we get in there and get it done. So many people sit on the machines while they are talking. I have even seen people (I swear this is true) reading in between sets - totally lost for minutes at a time in their mags and books.
