the end of ‘08…the birth of ‘09
It has been a while since I have blogged so I thought I would post an update. I started lifting a very small amount for a couple months in the fall of 2008 at the college gym and that was a great learning experience for me. I decided to change schools so I was out of a trainer and a gym. I got pretty busy and stressed out between Thanksgiving and Christmas so I took that time off. I was going to start back around New Year’s and I did. I found this awesome gym that I joined a few weeks ago and I love it. I also got a new trainer and I am really enjoying him. He has me on a to gain size and strength. He also has me on a diet which requires me to eat 3000-3500 calories a day. I never measured my calories before so I started doing that and realized i was only getting about 1500 calories a day. No wonder I wasn’t gaining any muscle. Right now I am up to about 2500-3000 calories a day. That is not where I want to be but it is tons better than before. I will get to 3500 calories a day before too long. I am a newbie to the weights so my workouts right now seems intense. I am expecting to see some gains pretty soon. My goal for 2009 is to reach 170. I am about 155 as of November 2008 when I last weighed. The training staff at my new gym says one pound of muscle per month is a good amount to reach for. So, that’s about one 1.5 pounds of muscle to gain a month. That seems reachable to me. He has me on a 6 week system so I was thinking about taking progress pics every 6 weeks. As a reward I thought about getting a massage once every 6 weeks. What do you think about that? I lift 4 days a week (usually mon, tues, thurs, fri) and do abs 3 days a week (usually mon, wed, fri). Well, that’s about it for now. I could always use some suggestions and encouragement…so please send some of that my way.
